I'm thinking of selling my 1997 SE and getting a 2002.5 or a 2003 in a few months. Is there anything in particular I should look out for when shopping for a 2002.5 or 2003?

BAD MAF'S?

I can understand the 2002, but i have not come accross any 2003 with bad MAF's.

I have never had a stock airbox in my car, and i only use my franken car and APEXi filter since new. I have 50,000kms of HARD mileage, and no MAF failure.

Stay away from the 2002, get the 03, i had both, and the 03 is so much better, there are little upgrades everywhere which makes it a much better car.

I didn't know they made changes between the 2002.5 and the 2003. It makes sense though, there would be a bit of time to work out any problems with the new engine.

Electronic COMPASS mirror
different trim colour on dash
New SILVER colour
Polished instead of GREY 17" rims
No dimly lit SES light
Stronger MAF
jsut to name a few things

Some 02's also had a suspension issue (I think transverse link issues) which a TSB is out on them unlike the 03's.

i have one of the earliest 2k2 6 speeds, my maf is fine, yet i've had an injen for almost 2 years.

i have an '03 SE (build date sept '02) and don't have some of the above like polished rims, compass mirro, chrome door sills. i think some of these may be related to the package and trim.

i would like to see any definitive mechanical differences between the two. i'm thinking there's actually more differences between the 5th gen and 5.5gen than 02 and 03 myr.

In Canada, we dont have the TE package.

We have an SE model, and the only the LEATHER package, but thats it.
