Performance Mods & Loss of Torque
Performance Mods & Loss of Torque
Alright Put on a Stillen Pop Charger and lost torquue.
Took it off and car felt faster.
Did the Home Depot CAI, which can been seen on my homepage, and noticed no loss of torque and ? as to any increase in power.Home Depot CAI
Now two weeks ago I put on a Stillen Y-Pipe and again a loss of torque and the car feels slower. It takes forever for the car's rpms to climb especially around 4k so I decided to add the Stillen Intake (pop-charger) just to see what would happen. Well it appers as though I gained some torque back but it still feels slower than stock. It doesn't feel as bad at night when the air is cooler and I haven't been able to get the car up to top speed range because it takes so long for the rpms to climb.
Whatever the case is, my friend just gave me a G-Tech and I will be testing all the setups out this weekend after which I will make my decision. I may have a y-pipe for sale and a pop charger, both new.

Check my home page. You should see an intake mod which works very well for me. Keeping the stock air box means you maintain more low end torque. Opening up the air ducts in means you get more high end pull. I did test also a 2.5" pipe connected to the OEM intake (a la Home Depot mod) and found it to not be as good . . .

wow i actually felt a gain when i put on the stillen y-pipe. No tq lose. As far as the pop charger, one of the reasons you lose tq is because you use tq in mostly stop and go traffic. Your engine sits longer without getting any drafts of air and therefor the temp under the hood heats up. Your pop charger then starts sucking in a lot of hot air. Someone did a test and the results were actually pretty amazing when it came to the different temputures.

with the pop chager, don't you lose low end torque and gain it up high?
you might consider pulling a dyno before and after each mod to see what's really going on throughout the entire power band...
but I guess when you consider the way YOU drive, your own personal butt-dyno should let you know if the gains are in the right places for YOUR driving style...

Al in all in think that the car in it's stock from pulled the hardest. The torque is even low when I've been on the freeway for awhile. I am going to try and run some numbers today.
As far as the Warpspeed, I am still waiting on Dallas to get me another set of the stage 2 subframe connectors as the ones that I purchased did not fit. Until this happens, I wont purchase anything else from Warpspeed. Besides, the quality didn't look as good as the Stillen.
