H.I.D. upgrades
H.I.D. upgrades
I have seen posts like this before but cant seem to find any. I was wondering if there is a way to upgade the blub on my stock hids. Do I have to buy a whole new kit or can you change out blubs? I was wanting to have it look as purpleish as possible, more like the BMWs or even more purple. I know once you go past 6000-7000K it not as bright, but i want more purpleish than blueish. Any help? THANKS

Philips and Osram are one of the largest D2R- aka HID bulb, suppliers to OEM. 90% of the cars that come with HIDs from the factory use Osram or Philips. Also these 2 companies do not make anything thats higher than 6K- I would recomend stayn with 4100s.

I love my HID's, I've got night pics on my homepage. I think mine are 7500K, not sure but it says on my homepage. I believe mine cost $125 shipped. I love the color these things put out. It really makes reflective stuff shine brightly.

also remember the color shift...
The labled light color on an HID bulb is an average that it will maintain over 2-3000 hours. After passing around 100-500 hours the phenonmen "color shift" will take place. Color will change slightly from a yellowish tone to a crisper bluer tone. The magnitude of color shift will vary depending on brand, model and rated color. It is a very gradual change and unless paid close attention to, a customer might not notice. OEM 4100K Bulbs manufactured by Philips has been reported to have a more noticeable color shift than OEM 4100K Osram. OEM 4100K Bulbs manufactured by Philips has a colorshift of approx 250K after 500 hours, which will bring it to up to 4350K.

Nope , I never get flashed. The Fog HID kit I got is the bohmen german made kit, the same one IGOR911 has. It has good focused beams with no glare. www.proxenon.com
