Projector Angel Eyes Installed
Interesting, what do you feel about them not fitting or did they fit perfectly? I am looking to get a pair of those off ebay!
I am quite excited... regardless, so do your halo's turn on with your signal lights then? Just curious on that.

check my site
i had both the chrome/clear and now the black. The black is definatley better. As for the pattern and brightness, it does kinda suck. You have to adjust them left to right, up and down, and after that it doesn't provide very good lighting. As with the HID's, they're good, but it's not like they're that bright either, I mean, if I had HID's I would want beemers or mercedes, not Maximas, they're a step up from halogen, but still not a true HID imo...
As for people stealing them, I had the chrome ones stolen, hence I bought the black. The angel eyes aren't bright at all for the day and aren't as birght as the 5 series you see on the streets but I like them better than none. Also I believe the bulbs are H3 not H4.
Anyone looking to buy these, I am thinking of selling mine and getting my buddies '02 HID housings and upgrading the bulbs/ballasts.

these projectors are really dim at night so im getting some new bulbs soon..most likely sylvania silverstars
i just finished one side of the mdx retrofit with h11 (halogen)... the output is so much better. I also did dr. roys write up for led's and they are now so much brighter!!! i should have a vid up soon shortly...
so does anyone have different bulbs in the angel eyes set?? And does that make the difference... if so, which bulbs did you replace the projector ones with.
Regardless, is the output better than stock, the output of light on the stock headlights are pretty sucky.

I just bought and installed the Halo Projectors (eBay) for my 01 MaxSE and they suck. First of all, they don't fit properly because the clip that holds the headlamp in it's housing is off by a 1/2", so you have to remove the clip in order for it to fit properly. If you break the clip, you end up with either the headlamp pointing downwards or a 1/2" gap between the bottom of the lamp and your bumper. But if you remove the clips, the headlamp is not secured thus the headlamp can be removed easily or bounces around the housing even when secured by the two 10mm bolts. Secondly, the light output is horrible...absolutely HORRIBLE. Each lamp projects three beams of lights which might as well be flashlights pointing to the ground...which also means you have 6 sporatic beams of light pointing in every direction. Brighter bulbs don't help either, I installed PIAA H3 Super Plasma GT-X 5000K, all it did was change the light from yellow to blue-ish white - same crappy output. Although they look good, and improve the look of the 00-01 Max., it's not worth it if you drive at night. Save your money and invest in HID's.
I now think that these projectors shouldn't be bought and left stock. If you are looking for a one time deal, these arent it. Now, if you want a project or something to hafve a really good basis for a retro project, then these are the way to go. i don't regret spending the extra $50 i put into them.
I have the same projector lights on my car. They look good but the light output is so poor that fast driving at night is suicidal. I installed HID Xenons (Bi-Xenon for HB) but the beam distortion is so great that it’s useless. I am replacing the low beam with true projectors (Valeo or Bosh). I still have to figure out what to do with the high beam. It is non-adjustable on this kit.

I had these on my car with sylvania sylverstars and the light output was great. I could see just fine at night. But it doesnt matter anymore, I cracked my car up and im going back to my AE lights...looking forward to it.
http://faqlight.carpassion.info/hl-general.htm has a great section regarding aftermarked headlamps:
APC headlights, quality and price (also applies to TYC)
APC makes headlights for several trendy automobiles. When mounted, they look really great. Unfortunatly, the build quality and function quality is not as high as OEM. Which makes sense, most of them are cheaper than OEM. In addition, they are made in smaller quan***ies than OEM, and should call for lower margin. You may wonder, how they actually conform to DOT standards? Well, the minimum requirements of the DOT standard is not very hard to accomplish. But to satisfy todays demanding customers who have been looking at $1500+ BMW headlights, well thats a hole different ballgame. Unfortunatly, very few people would be willing to pay that much. So they have found their niche in the "good looking" segment, and they do it well. What you should know is that the projector unit is made of thick cast steel, with relatively uneven reflective surface, compared to projectors from Hella. Most APC headlights until 2002 utilizes the same projector unit carrying a H3 bulb. H3 bulbs are mostly used in fog lights and thats excatly how the beam looks like. A wide cloud relatively close to the front of the car. Please dont even consider putting overwattge or HID in them. New for 2002 is use of 9005/9006. It has been seen in 88-91 Civic/CRX headlights. Beam pattern is not reported better. Reflector was partially dirty on arrival.
What is the quality of other, almost generic type headlamps?
Ebay and many other internet stores are filled with low quality headlamps of all kinds of origin. Examples of this are Matrix, Diamondback, Denji etc etc... What they all share is that they are low priced. Some sealed beam H4 Diamondbacks can be had for $30. If a headlamp is cheaper than OEM, be sceptical! Remember that to make a world class headlamp, very advanced CAD/CAM equipment is needed in addition to qualified engieneers. You have to ask the question: Will $30 cover this cost? $30 is way to little. You have to double it.
All headlamps should minimum comply to either DOT, SAE or ECE. Not that it takes much to comply to SAE regulations, but its better than nothing. Be aware that there are smart sales people out there: Examples of advertised product having the SAE label, but what you get in the mail does not have any labels. Conclusion to this is to: Buy brand name products that has an organisation that stands behind the product. Brand names are typically OEM prouducers as well. They are listed in the OEM HID database on http://faqlight.carpassion.info/
