How many miles did you squeeze out of your OE Potenza's?

I have nearly 35,000 miles on my stock blow-tenza's; part of me wants to replace them right away, and the other part of me wants to see how many miles I can get out of these things.

Judging by the tread, I think I have about 2000 miles left, unless you consider all weather situations, and these things haven't been stable in the rain for a long time...

oh, and I have finally decide what I am replacing them with; Toyo Proxes 4 all season 235/45WR17's. Originally I was going to go with 245/45's, but I heard that some people were having trouble with the 245's on the OE wheels.

26,000 so far, but they're dangerous in the rain now (even moreso than when new, and that says a lot). I'm planning on getting some type of new vehicle in the next 3 months, though, so I'm not going to replace them.

I also agree with 235 instead of 245... 245 is just too much on the stock wheels.

I think someone suffered through 60k on stock Potenzas. I honestly find it almost impossible provided they have only 140 treadwear. My stock tires barely lasted a year before everyone got fed up with them..

I've got 45K and counting. I hate them. I think they'll last through this summer and I'll replace them with Pilot Sport A/S's in the spring. Then I'll find out what wet traction is like. I've heard it's nice to be able to change direction when it's raining.

i had 29k on mine and they were completely bald. no tread on the outer lugs and minimal tread on the middle lugs

it was a scary drive everytime it wasnt dry outside, i now feel safer with my falkons, that and the ride is much softer, the bald bridgestones were a rough and loud ride

you guys are crazy....I got rid of my RE92's after less than 25K miles...they just didn't feel safe anymore, and they were downright dangerous in the rain and snow......

btw, you cannot safely put 245's on your OEM rims. They are way out of spec......most tire manufacturers will indicated either a 225 or 235 as the MAXIMUM size for a 7" wide rim....

I've got 32,000 on mine and they are still showing around 5/32 tread life. We don't get much snow around here but lately they have started to feel slippery in the rain. Not bad for stock.

i had 36k on mine when i finally switched out. decided to try out the avon tech m500...i didn't realize how bad the stock tires were until i got new ones.

edit - actually i did know how bad they were. but i didn't realize how much better the traction/grip would be with new tires.

Ugh! I've only got 11K on mine so far. I've got a long way to go. I wanna get Pilot Sports REALLY bad. A buddy of mine works at Discount Tire & can get me a pretty good deal on them. What fool can I sell my Potenza's to though.

Will our odometers be thrown off if we go with the 235/45 setup?

2.1% too fast. Not bad, right now my speedo is 3.3% too slow.

And eBay is a classic example of a junkyard, you'll have no problem selling them on there. Some people buy the Potenzas just because they're OEM and they think that's the best for their cars..

How have those KH11 handled? What about rain?

What's better/worse then the stockers?

FYI-

Never put new tires on the front of a car period. It doesn't matter if it's front wheel drive or rear wheel drive. I read an article in a car magazine and they did complete tests. The tests in short said handling as well as traction suffer considerably.. Move the worn ones to the front new to the rear.

Note: I always replace 4 anyway because I rotate my tires and get the maximum life outta them!!

I believe the article said that the risk of losing control due to the rear tires breaking loose was more likely and more dangerous then a blowout on the front(which is why everybody *THINKS* new tires should go on the front).

Tire technology nowadays makes blowouts pretty rare, however going around a corner too fast and having the rear tires let go and spinning out is pretty common. Therefore, you want to have the best grip tires in the rear, because Joe public wouldn't have the ability to correct a rear end slide and would crash. If the fronts start to let go(worn tires on front), then Joe public hopefully has enough common sense to let off the throttle(decreases speed and puts weight transfer advantage on fronts) and steer through the corner.

It's a gamble either way, however I personally have my better tires on the rear. I like to push my car through turns and when I can feel the fronts start to let go, I let off. I've had the rear swing around TWICE in my life and BOTH times I crashed.

57k didn't realize the car was out alignment.... the car was running straight... weird!!!, changed them to Potenza (Z ones) forgot the name...big mistake those were even worse then the stock ones..... went back to Nissan and they replaced them with the RE92A, which are even worse...but whatthe hell.....

I'm in full agreement with Ice those points also apply to snow tires which is why you never, never put snow tires just in the front. You must run 4 snow tires.

Maybe i'm the one with 60k on crapenzas, lol. They were on when i bought the car with 40k so i'm assuming. Y do most of y'all have high or ultra performance SUMMER tires? Maybe it never snows where y'all are but in NY we have severe all 4 seasons. So i'm steppin down to Grand Touring All Seasons for a much more comfortable ride. I don't drive crazy or go over 130.

I had like 15000 when I switched to the Falken 512's, and they are wonderful. Dry about the same, wet so much better grip. Switch and live, dont and you risk it every time it rains.

I made it through 1 winter with my Potenzas. and "made it through" is a good way to put it. Only hit one curb sliding through a turn in very light snow...on the way home from the dealer no less. I have winter tires and will replace the OEMs with Pilot Sport A/Ss...I crave wet traction.

I went with Falken 512's at 21,000 miles. The winter of 2002/2003 they were ok with less than 10,000 miles. But last winter....man, I was scared to drive on them! No snow traction at all.

i replaced at 20k cuz of a nail. I could have pulled a few extra thousand miles though. All of you guys saying you got 40+k miles must drive suuuper slow. I rarely break my tires loose too... Switched to falken stz-01 (the truck tires). not bad, hopefully they'll last the advertised 50k...I'll be happy with 40 though

I have almost 24k right now. Right we do not get much snow here( I take the Jeep if it does), but with the rain we have gotten here lately driving over 50mph on I40 seems to be a big risk with heavy rain. The tires are coming off in the next couple of months just not sure what will be replacing them yet...My wife wants me to put the Michelen HydoEdge, but I am leaning towards the Bridgestone LS-V.

As many miles as it takes to drive to the tire store to buy new ones to replace the craptenza's. In my case 4 miles.
