I think i am going to go with this muffler to replace my worn out p.o.s. i have right now. Do any of you have any opinions or comments about this muffler(the one phxblue has). Also where can i purchase one!

Thanks

If I remember correctly, it's a universal muffler so you'll need a shop to weld it for ya. PowerTech owners seem to like the deep tone it produces. It's under $100 too.

BTW, try Ketronsales.com. When I was looking for a decent muffler before, I noticed that this place sells it for the cheapest.

Well i was looking at frankencar and cattman, but based on the comments of everyone else who has this mufflers it seems the powertech is the best bang for the buck. Also IMHO cattman makes a great product but is waaay over priced.

BTW thanks for the link

I have the PowerTech for almost 2 years now, and I like the sounds it make with the Y-Pipe, but since I'll be switching to the Cattman headers next winter I think then it would be too loud with the PowerTech so if you intend to install headers I would suggest to go with cattman cat-back.

Good luck

Thats what i was afraid of, but i heard phxblue clip on maximaracing.org and i didn't think it was to loud . I would like to do headers maybe later this winter but as for now i am content with still playing with my supercharger

With the headers you better have a Cattman or Frenkencar catt-back. I had the Y-Pipe and Powertech muffler installed at once, the first time I picked the car I was amaze at how louder the car was but after couple of days it settle down, in 2 years I never got pulled over by popo.

Cheers

I already have the y and the catback with a aftermarket muffler so i dont think it is going to be louder, if anything it will be cleaner sounding. Cops don't really mess with me around here because there seems to be so many cars and trucks with aftermarket exhaust( hey its lousiana we aint got nuttin beder 2 du )

I'm in New Orleans and they don't mess with me. I've swapped my B-pipe and have the powertech 1012 with 3.5" tips. I've got pics of it on my homepage. I like the way it sounds so far. I'm waiting to get a Y-pipe.

With a Y-Pipe and no resonator can you say LOUD, it's going to be very intimidating.

I've got a resonator on my B-pipe and I'm waiting to see if I can pick up a used Cattman on the .Org. I'm not spending close to $400. If I can't find it soon I'll probably just get the Warpspeed one for about $160.

My opinion of the PT1011 with the budget b-pipe is horrible. Sucks to be laughed at by people on the road because you sound like a civic with a cheapo exhaust. I bet now with my cattman y the muff would have sounded deep and not like an annoying bee stuck in a can. It anything I'll probably get the Cattman rear section in the future. The noise and drone that that muffler made inside drove me insane and gave me the worst headache. I had that muffler for about 18 hours and it was gone.

chris'smax if you want a loud exhaust get the Powertech. I guess that is where I got confussed when these first hit the org about 2 years ago. I was expecting a real deep and quiet muffler, when it's not quiet by any means.

It's always hard to trust other peoples opinions. The best thing is to hear it in person first or just know that you get what you pay for.

Personally ive had a muffler on be4 & I hated it, yes it sounded at idle, but too much ****in drone inside the car.

Right now, what I got on the car is the OEM muffler with 3" magnaflow tips. Looks nice & best of all NO NOISE!! The OEM muffler flows better then most need, its good for well over 300hp worth of exhaust so I wouldnt worry about it.

George aka PhxBlue is actually going back to this setup due to the sound of the exhaust anoying the hell out of him. With the headers & cams it does sound quite nice, and when I drove it, it didnt bother me much, but every day...yeah it will get anoying.

Btw-Hes got the cattman muffler on Not powertech.

Well $h!t, now i am confused . Well what do you all think about the franken car rear section.

I was also worried about how cheap the price was on this thing(You get what you pay for)

Whats up hitman, i could have swore phxblue had a powertech o'well, that cattman sounds real sounds real good

I have the PT1101. Should I just get it installed using flanges, or should I go for a custom catback piping? I can get the flanges done for around $50. One place will do a 'reduced bend' catback (2.25" piping with ~2.1" bends) for $185 and another place will do a mandrel bent catback for ~$250. What would you guys reccomend?

I dont blame you man, exhausts depends bigtime from one person to the next. Personally I hate drone inside, it just got on my nerves after a while. You might not mind at 1st, but ohh man does it get to you after a while.

Keep in mind that G's ride is differnent then yours, its not going to sound the same. Hes got headers & cams plus its a 3.5, yours is boosted & its a 3.0 so id expect it to be a bit more mellow but IMO the OEM muffler should flow more then the cattman muffler (yea I just said that )

What it comes down to more is this, why do you want the muffler for? Looks? sound? or just improved exhaust flow?

Yes George did have a powertech be4, but be went with the OEM muffler after that, then a cattman, & looks like now back to OEM As previously mentioned, id try to hear a specific exhaust be4 id buy it, go for a ride, ect... and keep in mind, do you really want to hear that all the time? If so, then go 4 it.

well i guess it cant be worse than what i have now, really loud. but from the sound clips i have heard the powertech and frankencar sound much better. What i am really looking for is a setup that is a little quieter than what i have now but still has that growl when acceleratting

My Powertech was custom installed and the rear valance was modified to make it fit and NOT bang.

My car def. does NOT sound like a Civic. I have the Cattman Y, B-Pipe and PT1011.

Ask anyone who has heard my car, it sounds very deep and nice!

i think just buying a muffler is wasting money..
if u want a nice tone.. just cut your resonator and replace it with a straight pipe..
you'll get a nice deep tone and no noise inside the car..
and you'll still keep some low end power

IGOR I'm sure with the y the muffler doesn't sound like a civic. I could tell after getting the cattman y that my stock muff got a lot deeper so I couldn't imagine with the PT1011 sounds like.

I'm coming up to the BR for LSU's first homegame. If you want to hear what my car sounds like let me know. Not sure if I'll be parked around Tiger stadium or not.

Hey HitMan, which MagnaFlow tips did you get and do you have a pic of them? Also, if you can tell me where you got them and how much did the install cost. Thanks.
