what should next mod be

okay here is what i have done: i have a cosmo racing cai, warpspeed y-pipe, arospeed udp, 2" lowering springs, halo headlights, clear with black housing tailights, strut tower brace, and a whole lotta stereo junk. just wanted to get some opinions and direction on where i should go next performance wise. i have limited cash flow because im currently in school. if anyone could help out it would be greatly appreciated.

for performance, hotshot headers or complete the exhaust setup..

fidanza flywheel with a ACT or Spec clutch. Advance ignition timing via the ECU 3 deg, repleace the MAF and recalibrate the ECU to the new MAF program. Exhaust don't really do much in terms of power, if you want a nice not raspy sound- look for a dual tip REAL Remus muffler and have a shop make ya a 2.5" from cat back exhaust system with the Remus rear. Make sure to get a Resonator, something around 16"-20" long and about 5-6" in diameter- Magnaflow makes nice ones. Forget HS headers, get some Cattman headers.

I'm seriously thinking about purchasing fidanza flywheel with ACT clutch, but how difficult is it to install them? My mechanical skills are as basic as installing a y-pipe, udp, and struts & springs myself.
How do you advance ignition timing via ecu 3 degrees?
Which MAF would I need and how would I recalibrate the ECU afterwards?
Lastly, does cattman or hotshot make headers that will mate with the warpspeed y-pipe?
I have a 2000 maxima gxe 5spd with GAB/OSCAI, y-pipe, 2.25" custom exhaust with no resonator, and udp, and in the same boat of figuring out what mods to do next. Looking towards low 14's down the 1/4mile.

Putting a flywheel and clutch into a 5th gen takes about a hour- 2 hours tops ! You have to remove the transmission ofcourse. In order to recalibrate the ECU or advance the timing you need to have a Nissan Consult II scan tool. I have every bolt on possible on my 01 GXE short of cams ( for now) and you can get away with 3 deg of ignition timing- 4 deg is max, but since its summer time I don't wanna risk detonation. Using 93 octane gas is a must then. Stock ECU runs pretty rich at 4K RPM and up under WOT, I found out I was at 10.8:1 at 5K RPMs andthen when VIAS opened up at 5200RPM I went up to 11.4:1. I have since corrected those figures and found a fat chunk of power hidden inside the stock ECUs fuel map. I'm still waiting for TechnoSquare to beat my own S-AFCII maps. I still want the higher redline of the TS ECU, but god knows when if EVER will it be ready for us DE-K drivers.

thanks man greatly appreciated, just a question though, i readily have access to the consult II, where exactly do i go to adjust the base ignition timing?
please write back soon, im in desperate need of some horsepower.....heh heh heh

you need to go to Engine, Ignition timing, and then go advance - you can go up to 4 deg advance. But with the current weather I wouldn't do more than 3. I live on some flat lands but the heat gets pretty high sometimes so I chose not to ping like crazy with the more advanced timing. For winter I will go all the way up - 4 deg Advance, currently I run 3 Deg, along with the new MAF calibration software I gained 10WHP all accross the board. Timing alone has given me 6WHP increase at 4K RPM vs stock timing when I 1st got my car- 206WHP with just a POP charger and 3 deg advance. This also works on 3.5Ls.

to clariffy what I just wrote- I was hunting for where I lost HP after a MAF repleacement with a new one, and did a ECU recalibration via Consult II, redynoed and noticed 10WHP gain from 2500-4600RPM, then it leveled off to like 6WHP and at 6800RPM I was 12WHP higher than I used to be. I compared my MAF voltage readings in between the 2 runs via Consult and MAF reading has been highest ever so far I really wanna try cams but right now I am inline for a turbo Ypipe.... cams cost around 1000 bux, and you need a whole day pretty much to install them. Where piecing up my own turbo kit wont cost me more than 3K bux and the gains will be substantial with a HKS GT35R that is in my trunk right now.
