Hyperground at Southwest?

Has anyone bought the Hyperground kit from southwest autoworks? If so, how well did it match engine bay of the maxima, since it is generic.

I got the Southwest kit about a month ago. Yup, it's a generic kit, but it isn't that hard to find appropriate spots for the wires. It looks pretty good. This isn't the best pic, but you get the idea. A few more pics on page 10 of my cardomain site....

scopium, I grounded the tranny to the body ground by the battery. Nothing on the TB, tho.

SKYrockerr, the engine idles smoother. No improvements in gas mileage and I doubt there is an increase in performance, but the red matches my engine bay.....and I got a raise at work.

But seriously, the setup is a lot more substantial than the stock wires so it can't hurt and IMO there are some minor improvements. Is it for real, or all BS? I can't say for sure but I like it.

what kind of wire did you buy at home depot? The quality of the wire has a lot to do with how effective the setup is. Most kits use 99.9% copper wire, most wire you buy in a non-specialty shop will be of lower grade. Food for thought

i did the same as wildman. used some 8 guage wire normally used in amp wiring kits.

noticed a smoother idle and it seems the tranny is more responsive to pedal input and shifts easier/smoother as well. that's about all i noticed after the install in comparison to before.

i wouldn't say these were night and day differences but definitely worth the time and $20 or so it costs for the materials.

urban legend IMO.....so you'll pay $50 for wires that cost $3 to make - at least for use in an engine hyperground, it doesn't make a difference. I used home depot 6ga wiring...I don't know the copper % but it's standard copper wire that is 50cents/ft. It works great and makes a noticeable difference. With audio setup, the copper % is more important..... Even IF the 8ga home depot wires are 90% copper, it's still ALOT better conductivity compared with the OEM ground wires (which are like 16-20 gauge or smaller and I'm sure are not 99.9% copper either).

btw I have a how-to on my homepage for hg setup on the VQ30....VQ35 setup is similar.....

My kit from SWA was $44 shipped. A bit more than your $30 but a lot cheaper than the $100+ Stillen or Sun.

blues - I'm not saying the SWA one is not a good deal....just saying that it's also fun to do your own As much custom stuff you've done to your ride I'm sure you know what I mean!

by the way, there is a HG kit available for the maxima (and cut specifically to fit the maxima) from blehmCo www.mattblehm.com, in case you don't want the SWA one and don't wanna do it yourself,...

I just bought a premade generic kit off of EBay for like $22. It comes with 9 wires I believe, battery terminal, etc...

There's no need to spend any more $$ than that.

Here's one for like $25:

There's no difference in the wiring from the e-bay kit compared to any of the others. I like it and I definitely felt a difference at idle. Smoother.

well whatever and ever.....just like Stillen RSB vs. Cattman/Addco/Progress RSB...they all work the same...some cost more than others - its a personal choice as to name/brand/looks/personal desire to do it yourself/etc....each to his own. No hypergrounds out there will HURT the car, so any is fine (just don't attach to the positive battery terminal )

I believe you should have a set of ground wires that ground the individual coil packs. My Ve has one for each front and a common ground for the rears. You should try to find these and ground these also. This should help the engine. Also consider the alternator ground.

You can see some of my Home made kit here. Look for the rice red wires. See the cam angle sensor on the end of the valve cover? There is one red wire grounding the last coil pack ground wire. You can see the stock black wire and the red ground wire piggy backing it.
