is it totally necessary to get shocks when you lower your car?
i was thinking about getting eibach springs to lower the car some(looking at about 1-1.5 inches)...is it necessary to get the shocks as well to go along with the spring kit? will it hurt the suspension a lot to just leave the stock shocks and just get the springs????

First it saves on labor. Why pay twice. Just pay once.
Number 2 your stock shocks won't handle the aftermarket springs that well.
They will blow faster.
Getting struts the same time you get the springs... cheaper install.
You don't have to get new struts, but it's recommended that you do. I drove with my stock struts on for the longest time and I think the ride was fine all that time.
It's not going to hurt anything besides the stock struts... and kidneys.

It wont "hurt" the suspension. But your OEM shocks will wear out about 10 times faster than they would have. I say save yourself the labor and get new shocks too. Also, the OEM cant really handle the high spring rates to begin with, so you'll get a very bouncy ride.
Tokicos don't differ much from the stocks when it comes to ride quality. I'm waiting for some other company to come out with one.
Don't lower your car unless you're prepared to feel every bump. It's a nightmare!!

I wouldnt call it a nightmare at all. It took me a little while to get used to, but now I love the firm feel. I do wince when I hit a bump really hard and bottom the suspension with a big CRASH, but I've learned to go slow over them.

Not really, H&R said that their sport springs for 5th gen maximas are designed to go with stock shocks!!!
I installed mine with H&R.i feel the ride is less harsh, NO Bouncy ride at all(btw, i think H&R goes well with Stock SE shocks, dont' know about GLE or GXE)!!!
Besides, there are no good shocks available for 5th gen max yet!!!why waste money on Tokico blues when it's gonna go bad in one year or so....
Do i hear JIC coil-overs??

Jane hasn't received her shipment yet. She called Shox.com and they said the Koni's were shipped out on Wednesday, so they should be here today (from San Diego?). I hope UPS doesn't arrive until after she gets back.
If she gets them, the project will proceed as planned.
