CD player problems?

I have an '01, with the normal in dash, single load CD player (not Bose). I noticed that it seems to be scratching certain CD's, and on some CD's, it skips often.

On the CD's that skip, they can be played anywhere else just fine. I know for a fact it's scratching certain ones because the CD's were bought new and never left the car.

Has anyone else had any issues with their CD player?

Thanks

I think I've noticed the scratching problem... I have a few CDs that were scratched lately, but I thought that maybe it happened here at work while loading/unloading them into the computer. I haven't noticed the skipping problem though

Burned CDS, cleaning?

Are those CD burned? CDr usually require more laser intensity to read it.....so some cd player with low laser intensity will have problems to read it. Also, try to clean ur in-dash CD player in case it is too dirty.

Re: Burned CDS, cleaning?

Actually, one of my CD's was so scratched, I couldn't even play it in the car. I burned a copy of it, and play off the copy, which is still OK.

All of my other CD's are originals. Maybe all CD's aren't exactly the same thickness, some are really scratched some aren't. I really don't play CD's anywhere else but the car.

I just wanted to say (because I'm not sure if all of you are talking about the same system) that the double DIN non-bose head unit that comes with the C&C pkg perfectly plays even the most scratched, crappy CDr's i can find.

I didn't know if it was just me or...?

On 2 separate occasions my Premium system has overheated when playing CDs. I then skips when hot. When I popped the CD out, I could barely touch it because of the heat. I can't seem to reproduce it. I tried playing a CD for 1.25 hours and it wouldn't overheat.
