OBX headers

Anyone have these on their car ? I have installed a set on a TL Type S a while ago and gains where pretty substancial. Now that is a totally diff car from our Maximas, but the primaries seem equal lenght long design vs Stillens short..

Now these from S&S Chrome look like Stillen knock offs possibly..

Hm Thought there would be moreinterest for this.

I wonder what will work best for 00-01? Unless there going to make headers specificly for us.

I cant believe obx finally started making these after 2 years.

I honestly recommend that no one waste their money on these. Yes it looks like a great deal but based on the design I suspect they won't be as effective as the Cattman or Hotshot headers. Both the latter have equal length Y pipes.

1FSTMAX (4th gen) will be testing them shortly. We'll see whats up then. Just looking at the 90 degree T collector its going to be a bad choice.

I got one of the first sets in and they are already in the hands of a 4th gen (1fstmax). He will be dynoing them for us to see if the gains are worth their salt. If they do perform well I will bring them in and they will be at about 1/2 the price of the Cattman headers. There will need to be modifications needed to fit a 00-01 and 02-03.

The only modifications required to make these fit the A33s is to extend the O2 sensor wires and plug up the EGR port for all the Cali spec cars.

OBX copied the Comptech design of the J32 header on the Acura vehicles. I'm sure they copied some companys header.. I hope it puts out the same power as HS, cause I really don't like their products as far as Maximas are concerned, and if OBX can put out a product for 350 bux, and it looks so high quality ( friend has OBX on his CL-S ) then I dunno why HS has to charge 2 times as much for a product that doesn't even fit the car. They already make bank on all the SR20 headers- 500 each for years.

Hmmnnn....

Most likely these will not perform as well as Cattmans or HotShots, since that rear bank arm is perpendicular to the front arm. That's a BAD design flow wise. They should have merged it.

Not sure why they used two flex sections, but they appear cheap and that's two places to fail.

Also, what's wrong with the inside of the front arm? It looks like it's partially blocked or restricted.

Didn't someone mention (in the past) that OBX is coming out with headers for the 02-03? Hopefully they would "copy" Hotshot's design and not Stillen's...

OBX is known for copying header designs. They copied HotShots SR20DE header and sell them on Ebay or like 150 bux vs 450-500 for the original HS. HS has sold ALOT of headers to the SR crowd- like thousands of them. I seriously doubt the headers can't be sold for around 450-500 bux, look at the market and how big it is. Plus installing these aint the eassiest header install in the world. Its not like putting a DC Sports header on a Integra- that takes about 20 min to do.

I completely agree. How could this header flow exhaust gasses efficiently enough to gain power with this design?

Hmmm, I wouldn't say 20min, more like 1-2 hrs with air tools and a lift. At least that's how long it takes me.

it takes ya 2 hours to put a header on a 99 Integra LS 2 door 5spd ? I work at Acura, and do such rice mods (its purely looks with only 5WHP or so) on guys cars. I've done Maxima headers in about 2 hours the last time. Practice makes ya really fast at things, kinda like TL trannies- I can have one out in 15 min.

Well, here is the final result of the OBX headers. THEY DO NOT FIT. So much for that..... The headers don't clear the front motor mount. The little "project" that I had going was looking good. 1fstmax kept all his promises in getting the test fitment in time, the darn things just don't fit right.

Back to the drawing board.......

Regards,
Bryan

I'd just go with Hotshot, just if they would fit better.
