Do some GLE's come with the rims that look more like wheel covers... ya know the ones that are part of one of the GXE packages??????

Cuz I see cars listed as GLE's but they have those rims and I'm like that can't be a GLE.... but I saw one on eBay the other day and scrolled down and it had leather, so is that an option?

 

I think you can get that as a apackage to get the 16 inch rims

 

The early 2000 GLE's came with the GXE 9 spoke rims. Later 2000's came with the SE 16 inche wheels.
The switch was about the same time the child seat anchors were added to the rear deck.

Bottom line, very early GLE models had the 9 spoke rims.

 

GXE: 15" steel wheels w/ wheel covers (standard)
16" 9-spoke aluminum rims (w/C&C package)
GLE: 16" 9-spoke aluminum rims (standard)
16" 5-spoke aluminum rims (w/C&C package)
SE: 16" 5-spoke aluminum rims (standard)
17" 6-spoke aluminum rims (w/C&C package)

i have heard that early 2K model GLE's only came with the 9-spoke. but dont be fooled by the rims, it still may be a GLE. they shouldn't have even made steel wheels with wheel covers, they should have just come with aluminum wheels standard. just my .02 cents.

 

Yeah, I bought my GLE 1 1/2 months after the Max was released. 9 spoke uglies on it.
