Want to color the amber/turn signal on 02-03 tails. How?

It’s done with special spray paint... like this http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/bulandtailli.html

yep. just use that paint. do it in bursts, about 3-5 seconds at a time. Make sure you point it all around in a circle. It takes about 6-7 coats to match the red and a total time of 15-20 minutes to complete it in. So don't expect it to be red the first shot. It takes about 4 times to see the color change. Do it in the sun of you can, so you can get the best match. Then let is dry for an hour before putting the bulb back in.

Ha Ha. Funny you should ask. Look at the bottom right corner of that light. You see the chip? That is what happens when you try to crack the back lights. You can't. Not at all.
Emax went through two sets of lights I think before he ventured upon this idea and then he posted it. I give credit to Emax for this mod because he did it first and also spent a lot of cash on lights trying.
Just take the bulb out of the back, point the nozzle in and spray. It takes a couple times doing just a 3-5 second burst in circles.

when you do this, do you guys let it dry in between each of the 6 or 7 coats? i mean, do one blast for about 4 seconds, and then let it totally dry? let it sit for like, 10 minutes, and then do it again? or wait less time?

Ok, so I should do it like this:
1) Spray around in all directions for about 5 seconds.
2) Weight a few minutes.
3) Spray around in all direction for about 5 seconds again.
4) Repeat Step 2.
5) Repeat Step 3.
Etc etc?

Yes. Just spray a bit, wait a few, then do it again until the color matches.
This has to be the easiest mod you can do. Just don't get too agressive on the paint, remember to keep it below 5 seconds of spraying..... you can always add more paint, but you cant remove it once it is in there.

Best of luck...I agree with what the others have said for the most part. Just make sure the lights are laying flat on the ground. There are holes in the lense so if you would spray too much it could just run right out into the silver part of the light. Just take your time and it will turn out great!

isnt there anyway to spray some kind of chemical that will remove the amber color and then stick something in there to scrub all of the color off.....or is it a lens that must b takin out....cuz i think clear would look alot better than all red....there must b some way to do it....

Wow...ummm. Bad news. One tail light was completely ruined. Like...completely. The paint leaked into the housting somehow. I have no idea what the hell happened, I did everything right. I waited like I had to. Sprayed like I had to. The other one looks perfect...so I know everything that I did, I did it right. I was kinda' ****ed off...but hopefully I'll find a totalled Max somewhere and lift one from it. *sigh*

Dood.... you used Testors??? Oh Man. Sorry to hear about the problem.
I used the lens pain that was shown in the 2nd post. The Japanese crap that you get online. It is $30 a can and it really fine and is hard to run. You should be able to find some 2002-3 lights somewhere to scoop up. I would do both over again and get the right paint. Trust me, the stuff works right.
I also did not take my lights off at all. I left them on the car and just did it right from the trunk. Either way you try is up to you.

Yes, get the good paint. Just spend the money, it is only $30 and the can will last for other projects. Light coats is the key with good paint that wont goop up.

Nah. You gotta get the VANS paint. They have two kinds, the Light bulb paint, and the Lens paint. Emax I think used the lens stuff, all I could find was the bulb paint so that is what I used. I liked the bulb paint because it was real thin and layered on nicely. Get it here:

Stevay - Get the VANS.
Put it this way. That picture above is from spring of 02. My lights still look exactly the same. No new paint needed, nothing. I can even go take a pic of them tomorrow. If you do it right, the dealerships will even miss this one and never even think about it.
I had the service manager looking at my car and he said, your car is different, oh, you took off the maxima lettering, thats it. Then I showed him the lights, he said it was cool. He said that was a clever change and you totally couldn't tell.
