Heated steering wheel

Anyone have their heated steering wheel fail to heat? It was a little cool today so I tried mine but it doesn't work anymore. I can't find any blown fuses. At least the heated seats still work.

Heated wheel not working?

Rubb it rubb it hard and fast then enjoy...LOL sorry to hear. Make sure light on on off switch is lighting.. then take a volt meter to wiring under seats to test for 12v. Check plug behind switch and under seat for loose or? Good luck!

I hope you're under 36K miles or you have an extended warranty. Take it to the dealer.
If not, hopefully it's nothing expensive.
I couldn't live w/o it here in Chicago.

Actually... now that I thought about it. Are they linked to how cold it is outside, or in the cabin?
I recall it getting SUPER hot when it was freezing ***** out last winter, then it didnt feel as hot after 5-10 mins of being on.

It is still under warranty so I will take it in and have them fix it. I thought about the outside temperature being an interlock but there is nothing that indicates this in the SM. There is, however, a thermostat in the circuit. I just don't know where it is physically located on the steering wheel or at what temperature it opens up the circuit.

I swear I engaged this once during a warm spell last year.....

Well... ask the techs when you get there and let us know. I'm kinda curious to find out how it works.

I am kind of happy that I didn't get that package on my car. A few of my friends had problems with their heated steering wheels. When I was buying my car I decided just to put a remote start on the car instead of heated seats and steering wheel. Now I just get into a completely heated car in the winter and completely cool one is the summer. As for your dilema, I would take it back to the dealer if its still under warranty. I have a feeling its probably something stupid and small. Hopefully they will just replace it for you.

This issue was discussed awhile ago. What I can recall the heated steering wheel will only work when the outside temperature is cold enough. Makes sense as you don't really want to heat a steering wheel when its hot outside. Hope this helps.

I tried the heated wheel one day this summer and it didn't heat up as far as I could tell. Then I tried it last week on a cooler night and it heated right up quickly Must have a temp sensor somewhere.

i was actually gonna post this last night. according to the temp. display, it was 53* outside, and it got VERY warm...it was pretty nice

the problem tho...my heated seats, on high, didnt seem to get warm. i turned on mine and the empty passenger seat, and held my hand there for several minutes, and it didnt seem to get warmer at all. do the seats have a temp. sensor too that is just lower than the wheels?

I think the seats always go on regardless of the temp cuz I put them on sometimes when its hot to **** with my friends. It makes you want to **** after a while

On high the seats get pretty hot.....to me it is uncomfortable but I just got my car this summer so I haven't used them in winter yet. I think they will feel great on a cold winters day....at least initially to just warm up the seat.

It only takes a couple minutes. Just flip the switch while you're driving and within 5 minutes you should definately know the heaters on. Or next time you got a passenger flip it on and see if they notice it.

yeah, they did both warm up, after about 5 minutes...not exceptionally warm, but it did warm me up a lil....maybe its because they havent been used in so long?
