In case someone was considering using "Expel Headlight Protection Film" to stop their headlight lenses from becoming sandblasted...

I had it put on by a local authorized installer last week ($15 labor). Reason being, the material is so thick I could not get it to lay down around the curved and contoured surface towards the outside of the headlight lens. The installer used a heat gun (not a blow drier) to soften the material so it would lay down. He also cautioned that to much heat applied for too long could soften and deform the headlight lens. The constant use of the alcohol mixture on all surfaces and on your hands is critical. When it was first completed, there were hazy (white) blotches everywhere, and it looked like a disaster. In 7-10 days they were all gone. The film is now undetectable unless you feel for the edges. I'm very pleased with the product and the results and recommend it highly.

Ive got it on my headlights too, also had it installed by an authorized installer, ive had it on since March and in like July some of the edges started coming up. I noticed that when it was real hot outside little bubbles formed around the edges of the film and it got really soft and I think thats what caused the lifting. Theres one or 2 spots on each headlight where its happening, Im probably just gonna take it all off soon if it gets any worse.....

 

Try this...
The next warm day, park so the headlights are in the direct sunlight so the material warms up. Spray around the edges with the alcohol solution and try using the squeegy to reset the edges. The adhesive could be reactivated. Perhaps this will get you through the winter (if you have winter, salt, and sand where you are).

I did try that and it stayed for a little bit but then came up again. I tried using a hair dryer to heat it a little more too but it still doesnt wanna stay stuck.

 

i have not "EXPEL'ED" my headlights. i did in fact do my fogs. will it ever start peeling off there? caution for using to much of the fog lights too?

Where did you go to have this done? I checked NY local authorized installer from their web site and the names that came up in my area are charging $30-$50 for just the headlights w/o fogs.

How does it work if your lights are already pitted to hell?

try buffing them out then put it on if thats the case. My headlights were brand new when I put it on mine.
