Smoked Corners

I bought some clear corners, LED bulbs and a can of smoke bulb paint. I plan to smoke the corners but I am wondering how well the LED's will show up with the corner markers painted. Also I found out that when I removed the drivers side front, the lighting harness was missing just the wire wrap sticking out. Anyone know how much it would be to get it replaced? I have amber and red bulbs, I don't plan on getting the white ones, they look cool, but I don't want to get pulled over.

Here's mine. I smoked the stock corners with the stock bulbs. I didn't want to 'experiment' with my clear corners. The corners will not shine as bright, but enough that they can be seen. Sorry, no night pics....

Bluesbrekr nice job, they look perfect. I did the same to my stock corners, just not as dark. At night you can see the colors perfectly during the day they look tinted 80%. I think you should stick with stock.

LEDs are gonna be the only way to see true color through smoked bumper lenses. I did the same on my 2000, but I left the bulbs out.

Edit: Check out azmaximas.org too since you're in az.

I also have my corners smoked....they shine through fine at night, but do not reflect well (used the stock corners)...you have to use an enamel paint and make sure you don't put it on too thick. my smoked lenses you can just barely see some color in bright sunlight...used Nissan Maxima black dupli-cote enamel and 2 coats of clearcoat. I had originally used smoke paint like bluesbrekr, but it didn't match the car color that well, so I cleaned them all off with turpentine and re-did it with gloss black. Match to car paint is perfect, as if it came out of the factory like that....

on a related note, you will not pass state safety inspection with them (if your state has inspection)...I learned that the hard way, although luckily I brought soonerfan's spare normal set with me just in case

No Potenza's. Got new rims/tires a couple months ago. The pic is just old. Check my sig for my current set-up.

Where can I get the Smoke paint? Regular paint, or speciality for the application.

Wait, you took the original orange corners and blacked them out?
And I thought I had to get clear ones first.

How many layers of the smoke paint was used?
Which brand is the best?
Prorobly sold in Autozone and Straus Auto?

did you read my post above?
1. You can smoke the stock orange and red corners and smoke them.
2. I used Dupli-color black gloss enamel and clearcoat.
3. no "layers" per se...just a light, even mist spray until the lens is blacked out.
4. Advance auto or autozone should have the dupli-color auto paints.

I used Night Shades tinting paint. I've only seen it on-line, but some auto places may carry it. I used 3 coats and it got pretty dark. 2 might be enough.
