I read the How-2 on the auto dim rear view mirror install. It suggests to mount a sensor by the radiator. What exactly does the sensor do? Is that for the day and night mode? Can the sensor be purchased seperately? I bought the mirror, without the sensor..
Oh and yes this is a thread that does not talk about MAF and COILS

The sensor is only for the temperature mode if the mirror has this option. If the mirror displays the temp., then this sensor must be installed near the radiator or A/C condensor. If your car is equipped with automatic climate control, then you can just tap into the ambient sensor which is located in the same place.
