I know we have that drive by wire technology, but sometimes i swear when i step on it lately ,it takes a second or two to kick down and respond.I cleaned my air intake,recently changed th plugs, so my engines is in sound condition.I come to the conclusion that is has to be the electronic throttle mechanism not working right. I haven't checked yet , but for starters, would dirt or other funk inbetween the conectors were the wire conector meets the throttle mechanism cause improper or delay for throttle response?

Unfortunately yes, but for manuals or auto's both cars use the drive by wire technology.

Maybe a high-flow intake will improve throttle response.

well if you have auto and you gun it, it will most likely downshift 2 gears and hence the wait. its not manual, you cannot expect instant throttle response. if you really think that you need more response, shift into either 1,2 or 3 on your autoshifter (depending on speed of course) and see how responsive it is.

I was researching about this and posted this in the general forums but no one replied. Anyways, I read up on google and a lot of websites said to change your plugs to coppers, get indexing spacers for your plugs, high flow intake, high flow exhaust, etc. I am a different case than you are though because I am manual and have the 2k, 2k1 system.

Did you have the "Lack of Acceleration" TSB taken care off? Check the TSB section in this forum and see if it applies to you car. I did it to mine (it required both the re-programming of the ECU + a new MAF in my case) and it made quite a difference.
