Help God Help!!!

well a little problem.. my car feels fast but i dont think it is.. i was " racing at a track" and honda accords and stuff try to race me all the time.. i was racing my freinds bone stock I-4 stock honda accord coupe (auto) 2003 and i didnt have a great start off the line.

well the short of it is that i beat him but it took till second gear to really pull away from him..

do you think my MAF is bad or what could be wrong?

well, the 03 accords have 240 horse and 212 torque, your infiniti has 227 horse and 217 TQ...so wouldnt it be a close race...a drivers race even?

yeah buddy it was the 160hp version ( im guessing thats how much it has) i know they are light but are they really that much lighter.. i found a website that says they are 7.9 0-60 and 16.0 1/4 mile so why would my car be so slow to even have him next to me

I can KILL >>>> ABSOLUTLY KILL him when were running around like 30-80 and just gun it from a roll

what about something like a throttle body.. even though I have no clue what that does, but a lot of people talking about cleaning it.

The Only Way It Would Be A Throttle Body Is If When You Hit The Gas The Car Wont Move For A Sec, Andthen Go, Its Basically Your Throttle Body Sticking. You Could Clean The Tb As A Preventative Measure, It Never Hurts Only Helps.

I-4's are peppy off the line anyways, my buddy with his 5 speed civic VTEC can (sorta) keep up thru 1st gear. Once we get some speed, 150 (or whatever he has) just cant compete with 260, but the initial launch is fairly similar. I wouldnt worry about his accord sorta keeping up wiht you. Take a ride in his car, guarantee it feels way slower.

Usually lighter cars with peppy engines and high RPM clutch drops can get off the line pretty quickly. In the end, the more powerful, eventually faster car will win. Don't let this get you down or think it is a sign that your car is defective. I agree with bigdo, your car will feel fast regardless.

You Called?

Instead of cleaning your TB consider washing your car. Your car will appreciate it and you will see an improvement as well.

You asked for it.... You got it.

It also depends on HP/weight ratio...Accords are much lighter than the max...

Maximas are not quick in first gear anyway, the car is pretty heavy to take off but once its up its up. what may help is an unorthodox underdrive pulley. That will increase your rpms much quicker. But thier is no answer for that one, because i know my max sucks in first...

Oh yeah I definitely agree, first gear feels extremely slow, at least with the 5-spd. I feel that 1st gear doesn't get going until around 4500 but all the other gears pull after 2500. I really enjoy 2nd gear.

My friend has a 6spd 03 EX V6 coupe and I rape him from the roll or stop light race. I don't need a 3.5L.... HP per liter ratio 3.0L owns a 3.5L. 3.0 is smoother, more efficient, and reliable. 3.0L has no variable cam timing, or a nicer intake manifold... yet it makes more power per liter, and dynos maybe 10WHP less than a 6spd- in some cases the diff is only 5WHP more for a 3.5L.

um, are you an auto? i'm guessing you are. (not sure they made the i30 in a manny. if so, that race doesn't sound unreasonable. an auto 3.0 isn't..well...fast.
