went to the srtip last night
hey guys, i just wanted to say this is a great forum full of useful information.
I have a stock '02 VQ35 6 sped and i went to the track last night. i ran a best time of 14.676 at ~97mph in full street trim (with the golf bag in the trunk LOL)
well on the way home after, when i would declutch in first gear i can hear like a pop im not sure what it is but it only does it when i take off under power. what do you think it is? i was thinking CV joints but it would pop all the time if it was that. so im at a loss. any help would be much appreciated.
thanks.

well, i felt i was descriptive enough but i can feel it in the shifter and it does it louder when im taking off with the wheels turned. not powering it but just like normal so around 1250-1500 rpms. It feels like a cv shaft rotating and skipping a spline. i dont know how else to describe it. but i have heard bushings make a similar sound when warn out.

Did you experience lots of wheel hop at the track? Might be a motor mount and thus when you take off and the motor shifts, it makes a popping sound. Don't know for sure, just guessing here but I've heard of this happening to lots o' maximas after the track or excessive wheel hop.

ya i was thiking that too. but i only had wheel hop once during my 8 runs at the track. it did hop pretty bad though. my wipers went off as i was going down the track! LOL. are the mounts expensive to fix?
thanks.

They're not cheap to replace with new.
Polo was working with ES to make polyurathane ones, but that's kind of delayed, I think.
Anyways, your choices are:
1)Buy super stiff Place Racing mounts.
2)Buy new OEMs.
3)Buy used.
4)Use windoweld to fill your own.

I blew my mounts the first time at the strip. Went to the dealer and just told them that is was making a clunk, and it was fixed under warranty. The stock mounts are cheap, and if they go, it should be fixed under warranty, even though you did take it to the track (but I wouldn't volunteer that info
)

The energy suspesion motor mounts are out for the 3.5 Max. Not to hard of an install if you have a press.
