To Extend Warranty or Not To Extend Warranty

To Extend Warranty or Not To Extend Warranty
Hi All,
I've been away for awhile. Have always found good information on these forums. I have on '02 Max with about 17k on it. I tend to keep my cars awhile, and since I have another year of payments on it, I'm wondering if I should extend the original factory warranty on it.
I know all of the data regarding extended warranties and all, but just curious on this car.
If I do extend the warranty, what should I look to pay and/or should I look for an aftermarket warranty broker? Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

I'm a big believer in extended warranties, having gotten more than my $$ worth on all of them. You can go 100K, so I would do that. I am currently struggling with USP, who has my Max extended warranty. They run a tight ship--you will get a good deductible/good coverage at a decent price, but there better be something broken when it's expensive or you will find yourself in my situation--driving something you know has a failing part but hasn't failed hard. It stinks for me, good business sense for them. I should have researched them before signing on the dotted line.
DSP is an excellent company, lots of Corvette owners swear by them. I have them myself for that car. I don't know anything about Nissan's own EPP.
Based on the problems so far with my 2K Max, the EPP is going to pay for itself and then some. It's about half paid for now, with a transmission rebuild coming in the future.
Good luck!

It's paid for 80% of itself so far. 28,000 miles and 2 years to go. (6/100K miles)
Done so far (at milage): (all full warranty, parts and service) ($ in Canadian)
- One of the front suspension likages (40K). 60$, 1H, alignement.
- Fuel level sender (55K). 120$, 1H.
- Sunroof motor (57K). 250$, 1H.
- Oxygen sensor (62K). 250$, .5h
- Alternator (63K). 450$, 1h

I got the extend warranty from other company and I think I paid $900 when I got my car back to 2000. And now I need to fix my both ABS senser and they only cover 80% and also I need to pay the $100 first. So watch out for those aftermarket companies. The dealer told me that if I get the extend warranty from Nissan, I won't pay any $$$$$. Well, you may need to pay more in front but you will get it back after.
