New Performance Mods!!!!

Hey i drive a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE 5spd and i dont know what my next mod should be.

So far i only have:
1. Gutted Catalytic
2. Courtesy STS
3. Injen CAI intake

wonder what other mods for performance would you guys go with to make the max fly. I wanna do everything b4 i go with forced induction.

BTW i was wondering is it smart to ride progress springs on stock struts. Im looking for a nice drop with the SOFTEST possible ride. thank you for your help.

1 more question i was under the impression that aftermarket rims put extreme stress on the axel. Im looking for 18" rims that wont do any damage to my car and that cant be stolen easily anyone know?

headers but if you cant afford that then go y-pipe. Get an rsb also because i heard that can dramatically change the handling of your car.

For the drop i used some chop maxspeeds with stock struts and it feels close to stock but a little rough over bumps. People with maxspeeds uncut say it has a nice ride to it.

if you're gonna drop the car, you don't want stock struts...the rebound/compression is not correct for lower springs and you'll blow the struts in short order.

my suggestion is Maxspeeds with Tokico Illuminas - then you can adjust the ride quality and it's close to stock SE ride....with better handling and looks.

I don't think you can fit that many exhaust parts under the car.

New Mod

Maybe replace your cat with a high flow as opposed to Gutting it. Gutting it causes more turbulence in the exhaust system and can actually increase your back pressure. This is why you want a perforated core muffler and silencer. The louvered ones can cause more back pressure than stock. Also probably will not let you pass emmisions.

i live in miami and we dont do emmissions. But the thing my father is really annoying with the sound of the car. IM trying to get the QUIETEST possible sound and good power. Like he put the intake in for me hes cool with that. But he wont be knowing about the y pipe or anything else. I was also wondering about a good lowering process. Some ppl say Progress springs and KYB AGX struts are good. Im not to sure. What i really want to avoid is when I punch the gas to not feel or see the front of my car shoot up like a rocket. but yeah i would like to have a good drop

another alternative to gutting your cat and getting a high flow is getting a straight pipe. got to a local exhaust shop to custom make one. sometimes ebay has em for $20.

not as long as you keep ur resonator and stock muffler. you could even change the diameter to your piping and it shouldn't be a lot louder (jus a lil) if you keep a resonator and stock muffler.

well in my opinion if your going to do a drop, and pay about 450-700 then just do it right the first time and get the stechs with the illuminas, i wanted to go with the lowest drop, besides coilovers, i like the ride, its not that bad as everyone made it out to be, your dropping your car, so make it look like its dropped, not lik u have low tire pressure, go low... i cant remember who told me but someone on the org told me to just do it right the first time and go as low as you can afford, and stechs are so...

Y-pipe and intake will make it louder. I have a Magnaflow perforated core resonator, and 2.5 " pipe to the stock muffler. WIth a JWT pop charger and a Warpspeed Y it growls pretty good if you get on it. I tried a magnaflow muffler and it was obnoxiously loud. to the point a Z06 blew me away just to make a point. I went back to the stock exhaust. I have another magnaflow that is a longer case and 2" dia. hopefully it will not be as loud. It is not on yet though.

I would also assume that by gutting your cat it may make the car run leaner? Help me on this somebody. If there is no catalyst to burn off the extra unburned fuel, the car will think it is too rich and lean out? Not 100% on this part. Also if you can get the most quiet wiht the most HP gain and freest flow, let me know we can go into business and make millions!
You will have to sacrafice some sound for performance. To let your exhaust gasses escape the fastest, and produce the most scavenging, you must not impede their flow. Either wider pipe, but you can go too wide, as your gas will expand and essentially back up and slow down, or less restrictions-ie perforated core resonator, and perf core muffler. The only ones I have found are the Magnaflow, and Remus. Remus is expensive, and a straight through design. Most likely quite loud. Though I would like to hear one in person.
You may wind up having to experiment a bit.

best of luck!

irish, stop drinking too uch. a lot of ppl ran maxspeeds with stocks, and did not have any problems for over a year. what time frame are you thinking, when you post, you'll blow the struts in short order?
