many guys are running aftermarket decks. I would NEVER pay $450 for a BLOSE radio. Plus, the one they sell you is going to be refurbished, and willl die in 6 months anyway. As much as i love nissan, the service is HORRIBLE. for $450 you get get a nice deck...

I'm on my 4th deck. I've got almost 30k on this deck though and no problems. 20k and counting until my warranty runs out.

Well, I haven't had a problem with my bose sytem for two years now. I have a 2000 model. I heard that only the 5.5 gens had major bose problems. I don't really see any 00-01 maximas having problems with their bose. I may be wrong though.

My subwoofer in my 2000 maxima starting going out then finally just stopped. That was about a year ago. Car was at the dealer last month and when the car was started the radio was way loud. Now the drivers side speaker is cutting out.

Bose running fine

From what I've read its luck if you're bose hasnt had any problems. So far mine is fine but if it were to go bad i wouldnt replace it with another bose. to replace it with another bose is extremely pricy. the only negative about an aftermarket is that it is a pain in the asds to wire. 40000 miles no problem so far

I've had the problem with my speakers going out on one or both sides when I hit bumps for over a year now. I finally got Nissan to order me a new head unit after taking them the TSB (which they couldn't come up with on their own) and it took the unit 2 weeks to arrive. I still haven't had it installed because they claim it will take about 2 hours and I don't want to sit there waiting. Why can't we do our own warranty work and give them back the bad parts?

Nissan Service Advisors suck!

I have a clicking sound with alot of CDs. Store purchased and also high qual burned. I'm doing a ipod hookup to the aux port, so it wont really matter. Bose isnt bad for a factory system, but then again that doesent say much. Unless its under warranty, I'd go with something else.

Got rid of my bose head unit. ABT electronics installed a metra adapter to go with my Kenwood 589 mp3 player. sounds like a dream. Ill keep this setup till one of the speakers/sub goes. I really dont need any more bass, and the mids sound great.

So you were able to keep the stock speakers, eh? How much did that setup cost you? I love ABT.

i just bought a 2002 maxima but cant post a new thread. this is the GLE, w/ bose system and 6x9 in the back...anyways, i noticed sometimes when driving on the highway the bass just fades out, its like the woofer is powering off, and to get the bass back i have to turn the volume up 1 bar to start the woofer again...is this common? it's kind of annoying >.< please reply soon why car is still under warranty! thanks

Not trying to sound like a cool guy, but I only had the Bose in there for about a three days before I gutted the whole car for a complete system change. I already had the amps and subs, bought a new head unit and Boston acoustics to replace the crappy Bose speakers.

It probably is... since you're under warranty, why wait for people to comment? Just take it in... it'll be free anyway....

Have an 02 (62k miles) and the left speaker thing and skipping only happen when it is cold (under 60) outside. I love spring, summer in fall caus then i can listen to my CD's and crank the stereo. It is a quirk i am willing to deal with due to my new flow thru exhaust and Magnaflow muffer. With my intake and 6 speed, it sounds like a Italian sports car as i row thru the gears, forget the stereo now.....

Ditto. Can't figure out why the service manager at my dealer couldn't find the TSB. Even when I called 800-NISSAN1 I had to give 'em the friggin reference number. I guess it's typical for warranty/insurance claims - deny first & see if the customer pursues further. Haven't managed to get a new HU ordered yet, but they've "started a file" at Nissan NA. We'll see where that goes.

dealer said they'll gut the stereo out for me if i can wait 7-10 days for a new one to come in. I told them I'll take it as is and if it pisses me off within 2,000 miles I can take it back for replacement. we'll see what happens.

I can hear the disk spinning around - "fht fht fht fht fht", and it's not the cd. So yes.
