lack of power tsb

Did your dealers give you a hard time with this one? Also did it improve your power on your maxima?

im wondering about this too. it seems this isnt as quick as the last one i test drove.

what do you guys do...just walk in and say that you felt the max was losing some power, so you checked on the internet and found this TSB?

My dealer will probably give me the same crap. He said people come in with these TSB for no reason. I actually printed the tsb and gave it to him. He will probably tell me he could not duplicate it. I also brought it in for the CD left speaker problem, and he asked me if he is going to be able to duplicate it this morning. He said he is aware of this problem.

Just came back from the dealer and the guy was cool about everything and ordered a new MAF for me. Don't know if he will reprogram the ECU. Will have to wait.

The new maf needs to have the ecu reprogrammed. on my invoice, "replaced mas air flow and reprogrammed ecm"

for those having no luck- keep trying at other local dealers. it took me 3 tries before a dealer that was 50 mi away from my house agreed to do it. persistence is the key!

No problem whatsoever (they did it without even testing the car) and it made a big difference

what kind of loss of power are you guys feeling, and at what RPM range. sometimes i will be accelerating up a ramp or into traffic, and need to hit the gas more, and it feels like the car bogs down or wont accelerate anymore.

The TSB is for loss of power when starting out in 1st or 2nd gear. It is most easily described as a drop in RPM's when applying gas. I thought it was my driving at first but after making sure my clutch work was spot on, i noticed it easily.

I took mine to the dealership and gave them the TSB number. They reprogrammed the ECU and asked no questions. There is a definite improvement in the performace of the car after the ECU was reset.

There was a thread somewhere on the Org about drive like you stole the car after you get your ECU reset so that it learns to give you better performance in some manner... i wish I had more info on it or a link to the thread... but i dont.

If the car is already in the shop, might as well mention it now. I guess it really depends on how nice your dealer is.

Had mine done 16 months ago and it did help. Now, I've suddenly got the same problem again, in fact even worse and it's probably due to my driving habits. Actually, I won't drive the car when the weather is bad. So, months of going to and from work at 30-40 mph and then one weekend take a long trip and open it up. Get home, and 48 hours later, the throttle lags and when you shift the rpms drop almost to the floor. Question is, can the dealer do the TSB again and pass along the cost to Nissan?????

http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb...=2002&tsb=none

check here...

im still tryin to figure out if i have this problem or not. somtimes the car feels obscenely fast, like from a dead stop, but other times, when im rolling about 5 mph or so and hit the gas, the car seems to lag and not have the power...other times, im accelerating onto the freeway and want to go get another jump, so i hit the gas harder, and the car doesnt downshift again...

the 5mph and under thing seems like it might be a common issue with just how the max works...i think i should reset my ECU and TPS, since i already did my pedal...

any thoughts guys?

I have the same exact issues with mine. I'm taking the TSB to the dealer.

Thanks for the help.
