those of you who switched your tail lights...
do you need to get new wiring harness for all 3 lights on each side?
i havent taken a look at the tail lights yet, i will when i get outta work, but do the brake, signal, and reverse harness all need to be switched when going from 02 to 01 lights?

First question is, did you get only the SE housings without the bulbs/harness? If that's the case, here's the deal. The harness for the 00/01 and 02/03 is the same, 2 of the bulbholders are the same, but the third one (for the turn signal) is different. The 00/01 has a clear lense and a yellow turn signal bulb (size 1156A). The 02/03 has a yellow lense and white bulb (7440). Therefore, you'll have to go to Nissan and order the 00/01 wiring harness, or better get it from someone on here. The other end of the harness plugs right in here (whosever Max this is):
PM me if you have any questions.

i just PMed you back moiselle, but it wasnt about this
so if i go to the dealer, or on here, and get the wiring harness, it will plug into that piece, and have the 3 connections i need to fit the 00-01 tail lights (brake, signal, reverse)...if i DONT get that harness, ill need to ghetto rig a 7440 bulb into a 1156A whole, or cut and splice and be a PITA. one of the nissan websites has that wiring harness for $15 or so, i just want to make sure im getting the right thing.

The thing is that the 1156A amber bulb & bulbholder are larger and they don't fit into the 02/03 hole, and vice versa the 02 bulbholder is a tad smaller. You might be able to retrofit it into the 00/01 hole and use a 7440 bulb, but you need to find an amber one. Just get the wiring harness from Nissan, mine cost 30 and some change for both 03 harnesses. I'd send you mine, but was told by parents to "keep the tails in case you ever need to go back to stock". Whew. Once you get the harness kit, you'll be able to use your stop light (dual filament, 7443) and reverse light bulb (don't know the number).
And one little trick, before you start pushing the old tails out, remove the bulbs. I screwed up my dual filament bulbs and had to buy new ones because they're so fragile.

Mine came with the harness, and everything (except one reverse bulb which was the same as my 02).
Totally plug and play. Already rained so far, no problems, I also washed the hell out of my car.
edit nm.
I'm putting in piaa hyperwhites for the turn signals this weekend. I love the red/clear look, on a black car it's awesome.
No force to pop them out, the black gook stretches and looks like nasty crap, and thats it. You will want to clean the bulbs/outter plastic when u remove/replace. I used 3m bug and tar remover stuff, did the trick.

Yes, the tailights are totally plug-n-play. I swapped my '00 SE for the '02-'03's. I bought the plug harnesses for both and they plug right into the stock connector with no problems. You'll save yourself some time if you get the harnsess. It only costs between $15.00-$18.00 from Nissan. Like someone said before, the sockets are different from the '00-'01 and '02-'03's.

Pushing the stock tails out was a PITA, don't ask me how I did it. The lens is being held by 4 nuts and the sealant, so first you unscrew them. Here's a good writeup with pics.
