Hopefully it is just me....A reason to mod!

First off I want to say I love my max, the styling, the ride, and most of all the power. I know for many the max is a family vehicle used to cart the kids around, but for most people on this site it is more than that.

That being said - I have a problem with the Ford Taurus - everytime I look at it, I am thinking 5 gen max gone wrong and it annoys me. I know most people on this site could look at a car and list the exterior differences from stock on most cars at a quick glance, but to the untrained eye the taurus looks much like my car. On a Macro view, picture a Taurus tinted with spoiler and the stock rims which resemble the stock 16"s.
Now I have all the more reason to mod.

Hmmm, I don't think the 5th gen looks anything like the Taurus. Not even a little.

No way dude, the 5th gen is much much much more beautiful than the taurus IMO... and looks nothing like it.

The Ford looks better. It's just that we all know it's a POS. But from a pure asthetics standpoint, it's the better looking car. The rear of the 5-gen maxima is hideous

Haha, the Max looks so much sloppier and the Taurus is so sleek and sporty! Right? Plus the blacked out window trim.. but the Taurus interior is such a POS compared to the Maxima's.

Two different cars in 2 different leagues, the Max being much more sporty and has an Enthusiast following (step on that gas and you will know you are in no Taurus). Maxima's Exterior is much more sporty and the interior is head and shoulders above the Taurus's On the other hand the Taurus has a rental/company car reputation and no longer has an enthsuaiast following. If you think the Taurus looks like the 5th gen form the rear so does the Camry and the Jag S type, all have the Crescent Moon shaped tails with a License plate in between them.

thats crazy talk. the rear end, on the pic does not do it justice. Ford is a peice either way. My mom owns one, and I smoked it with my old 94 altima. She has had nothing but serious problems with that piece. Good thing I got a max, few glitches but no taurus. this is a taurus > <this is a maxima

Unless you're talking about a SHO, the Taurus is in a totally different class than the 5th gen

I don't know what guys consider a nice @$$ on a car, but to me the 5th gen's rear end looks completely perfect with just a spoiler

I think this thread went the wrong way. I was just saying that there is a resemblence obviously just looks. It makes me cringe when I see it, but I dont want anything that resembles a Taurus. Could find what I wanted to show you. Anyway I was surpised by the amount of modded Taurus.

If you have time to waste here are some interesting ones.

You are desecrating the Maxima name with this comparison.

No matter how much $ those people drop into their Taurus, the fact still remains that they are an ugly p.o.s. Ford. They acutally look pretty ridiculous, especially that one with 2 coffee cans! Nice job on that one! (See coffee cans below)

back in 89 when the SHO came out the max wasnt that hot. but with competition there the max got better and became sportier. and now the tauri suck again, and the max's are got less and less sporty. with less competition, theres less incentive to make a better product. Same with the GTP's and such, the better those cars get the better the max has to get in order to sell. with the likes of the Magnum and 300 and all the other newer sportyish sedans coming out, who knows how the max will evolve.

seems to be a trend ive noticed that a car company will make a car sporty keep adding weight and then drop it for the car lower than it, and then do the same thing. both nissan and ford did it.

Didn't even notice that picture! Evidently you get better sound in a Taurus when the subs are placed in the back seat. So what's in the trunk?

Gotta love this plastic dash too!

Are you kidding me? Every non-maxima person I've heard talk about the 2000-2004 styling all say the rear end is hideous. And I tend to agree. Even most of the mag reviews I have seen posted here all say the same. If you like it, fine.

You guys just don't like the Taraus because it's Ford and has never really received a decent engine (other than the old V6 SHOs). But we aren't talking about that.

Everytime it hits you that the 5th gen Maxima rear end is hideous, just take a peek at one of those and you'll feel better

Nope. The Altima's rear looks better in general. The huge Altezza chrome lights are idiotic but the styling is better. Plus the maxima as the same hideous chome altezza looking things also.
