CP needs a few coilover testers

[attn moderators, this is a legitimate call for evaluators, not a group deal or sales pitch.]

If 1) you're seriously into driving the twisties and know what you're doing, 2) want to upgrade to a good coilover suspension at a very low price, and 3) are willing and able to give them a good thrashing and provide some quality feedback (within a week of receiving them), then write to me for more information via email or PM.

We're only testing 3-4 coilover sets (including my car), so make the case for why you'd be a capable "tester", and we'll choose accordingly. These fit all 95-03 Maximas/I30s/I35s.

Thanks,

I may be a good candidate. I currently own a 2002 majestic blue 6 speed. I also own a '96 200SX SE-R. The SE-R is now relegated to track duty. It has a very nice set of custom coilovers made by scott Higashi in CA. I often go to Summit Point in West Virginia to participate in HPDEs. I have tried many different set ups of spring and strut combinations in the past but never on a Maxima. The SE-R has KONI 8611 2-way adjustable struts, front and rear STBs pillowball mounts on all four corners, GC camber caster plates, F/R adjustable sway bars, Etc.

For look at the track please go here -> http://www.summitpoint-raceway.com
For a look at my other car, please go here -> http://www.sr20forum.com/img/showgallery.php/cat/6088

BTW, In a previous life I worked as an aircraft mechanic and still do all of my modifications myself.

What type of evaluation are you looking for? Are you interested in gathering any specific data? Anyway, even if I'm not the right candidate, I'd like to know more about the research that you plan to conduct.

Thanks

Brian, what would be the differences between the current offerings and these prototypes? I am very interested in coilovers and a big fan of cattman products.

I promise to drive Skyline road down to highway every single day if I can demo these!

I'm interested as well, I am ready to upgrade from Ground Controll 500lb front 400lb rear on Koni yellows to JIC Magics. I was originally thinking D2 but I just don't like buying stuff that is of unknown quality and has no reputation. I have a Cattman Y pipe on the car I autoX my Maxima and few times a year have a track day at RoadAmerica in WI. I would be glad to give you some input on the suspension, I am a ex-Nissan tech and currently am working on setting up a Nissan/Toyota only tuning shop of my own. Let me know Brian.

Brian -
I'd be interested in being a tester for your new coilover system.
I commute to new york city every day so I could tell you how it takes potholes, bumps and whatnot. I live in a somewhat suburban/hilly area and I also take those turns relatively fast. Currently I'm on a LTB, RSB and FSTB and OEM springs/struts, which infact have very low mileage on them (30K) so my comparison would be to a properly working oem setup. I've been looking into the JIC setup but being that I'm ready to spend the money, I'd be more than willing to help you out with your R&D process.
Hope to hear from you soon- thanks!

I’ve been overwhelmed by the response to our request for coilover evaluators. I’m literally buried in email and I apologize for not getting back to some of you sooner. I’ve heard from probably 20+ people who could get the parts on quickly and provide excellent feedback, but I only need three cars (plus my own) and I'll be contacting those drivers over the next day or two.

I've recorded the email addresses of people who wrote to me directly so I can let everyone know if and when we add this coilover suspension to the Cattman inventory. If that is the case, we’d typically kick that off with an introductory sale. Remember that we already carry Progress Technology’s excellent coilover suspension, engineered specifically for the Maxima, well-proven on street and track, and on sale this month for $1100.

Brian, just got back in town. Sorry I couldn't jump in and help. Good luck to all the testers : Probably best for me as I'm still fine tuning (read committed) the Progress and finishing out the auto-x season. GC just sent me some rear 8" 450lb ERS springs to try out with Ed's new valving. I'll report back how it feels.

Also, for anybody who really wants to learn more about struts & shocks - the Nov 04 issue of Turbo mag has 6 pages dedicated to dyno testing of struts. WRX, STi, and Tein Flex. Most detail I've seen to date on valving characteristics.
