HELP, I screwed up my UDP install!!!!
I got a motostorm UDP and I am installing it myself (dumb, I know). I need help identifying the bolt behind the power steering pump, and advice on how to tighten the crank pulley bolt with an auto tranny. Also, I broke the idler pulley tensioner, what do I do now? Is there a way I can manually adjust the tension and just torque down the pulley bolt so it will stay, so I won't have to replace that tensioner? PLEASE HELP!!!

I broke the idler pulley tensioner also. You can get the parts for the idler pulley assembly seperately at teh dealership, but they will have to order it. THe bolt thing is $12, but i would also suggest getting the nut too. If yours broke like mine then the nut is seized on the bolt. It was a pain in the *** and hours of work to get that nut off.

Can you give me any insight (I have seen those sites) on where the power steering bolt is located? There are 2 I cant decide which it is. One sits on a small cylindrical outcropping, the other is next to that and set in a little. They are the same size. Also, is it possible to get everything done and drive the car while I am waiting for that part?

You will need to wait for the part for the idler pulley. Can't drive it w/o unless you get a belt from the UDP to the alternator, bypassing the A/C pulley and idler pulley. The links given above should help you find the right bolts to unscrew... as for tightening the pulley down, have someone hold the belt while you crank down the bolt, that will be tight enough (but dont hold me to that). I did so with mine 1.5 years ago, been just fine ever since. You could also put some locktite on the threads to add a lil assurance.

To tighten the bolt. Get access to your flywheel. There is an access plate that can be seen from the passenger side. Its really close crossmember holding the motor and tranny up. Just stick a wrench in there or a screwdriver inbetween the teeth real well and tighten as someone holds the wrecnh and screwdriver.

Also, I don't think I need to replace that idler tensioner. All you have to do is have somebody puch the idler pulley down really hard (to tighten the belt), then crank down the pulley bolt. Do you see a problem with that?

the tensioner pulley does just what it's name states: tensions. It is what puts the right amount of tension on the belts. If it is broke, I assume that it is either missing or stuck in 1 position, therefore will not allow you to properly tension the belts.

there are two belts on my UDP, the one that goes to the water pump and a different one that goes to alternator/AC. That's how it will be for any pulley, seeing as you need both the water pump and the alternator and they run off different belts.

one belt drives the power steering pump, and another belt drives the alternator and ac compressor. The idler pulley adjusts tension on the A/C - Alt belt from the top using a 14mm socket. The cover you are talking about- to hold the flywheel from spining is to take the bolts off the torque converter to the flywheel when doing the tranny. Maxima has 4 bolts that hold the torque converter to the flywheel and they are accessed from that little cover.
