Will this MOD be beneficial...

Guys...
Is the Unorthodox Lightened Flywheel mod worth it? It's $509 from custommaxima...but is it worth it? WIll it go on a automatic?

If we get this and the UDP...we can free up to 30-40 FWHP? Ideas, comments?

When U get the Unorthodox flywheel, it will look like the one on CM's website. You have to remove the crank sensor ring gear off the old flywheel, and also remove the back section off the old flywheeel where the bolts go through it. After all said n done the Unortodox flywheel is heavier than the Fidanza- which only needs the crank sensor ring gear to be transfered over off the old flywheel. As far as 30-40WHP, I seen 20WHP gained on a 3.5L from a JWT flywheel, I seen 12WHP from a Fidanza on a 3.0L, and 16WHP with a UDP combined.

in my 2k2, i have been given the opportunity to try this:

http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ine&prodid=938

if all goes well, us 3.5'ers will have more options. This is an integrated clutch/flywheel that fits a 350z.

It's not THAT much HP. I just had my Fidanza Lightweight Flywheel put in a month ago with my clutch. Definitely adds HP, but maybe about 15 or so.

Let's be clear. Lightened flywheels do not add horse power. They do allow more of the horse power you already have to reach the wheels instead of being spent turning a heavy flywheel. They definitely feel like they add horse power but really, they just "move" horse power from one place (turning a heavy flywheel) to the wheels on the road. Also, no you can't use a lightened flywheel on an automatic.

I completly agree, but if you look at the dyno charts every mod frees up HP, anything but forced induction or N2O will free up HP on a engine. Higher compression pistons will add HP and not free it up. Headers vs stock manifolds free up HP. But everyone says you gain power cause when you glance at the dyno sheet, it clearly shows you made more power with a certain mod. You make the engine more efficient at breathing air in, and exhaling it out. Our engines stock are not efficient at all, when a 1.6L Nissan SR16VE N1 puts out 210PS - 207HP in stock form in the Pulsar VZ-R N1 and does not use any kind of forced induction.

Stop giving out wrong information. Autos do have flywheels but no you can't use the manual lightweight flywheel from say custom maxima or fidanza.

Wish Fidanza would make one for the VQ35, since it's the cheapest (price-wise) IIRC...
