The Maxima SE is one of the more sporty looking sedans out their, take a look at most of the offerings compared to it.

It really is a lot more fun to drive b/c you have complete control over the car. You can control how fast or slow u really want to go and you feel the actual car more. I just recently installed the Berk Intake, although its quiet i still luv the sound of it thru 2nd. The sleepr sound is the way to go....:0

I tried both. They were about equal in excelleration. I, being young and dumb, bought the auto thinking that since I drive about 50k a year, routinly talk on my cell, and do sales while moving around the DC beltway, I'd be better off with an auto.

long story short:
I HATE MY AUTO TRANNY!!!

Buy a 6 speed!

Definitely the 6speed!
The manual transmission enhances the driving experience tremendously!
I remember the day I went to pick up my new 6speed from the dealer, I went to test drive an automagic Max (just to try it out). My left foot was trying to step on a clutch that wasn't there, and my right hand kept instinctively reaching for that non-existent stick shift. I'm glad I got the 6speed--- even if it is a hassle driving in stop and go traffic and hilly streets because it all evens out whenever I'm on an open stretch of freeway!!!

I went from an 01 auto maxima to an 04 stick accord to an 03 auto accord and back to an 02 stick maxima. (if you're really that interested in the progression, see my site)

I think a lot of it is dependent on the car. I loved my 01 auto Maxima - the power came on just great and was plenty fast for me. I love my 02 stick Maxima just as much, but the shifter is a little notchy. It's really a toss up for me in the Maxima world.

Hondas are a totally different deal though - smoothest shifting manual transmission there is - and I wish I never game up my 04 stick Accord for the automatic. In fact, I wouldn't have bought the Maxima if I didn't hate my automatic Honda so much. But there you have it. It's all about the personal preference and the car - if you're going for a Nissan, I'd say it's a toss up and the decision rests entirely with you.
