Does the short throw help?

Check it, i have had my y2K max for almost a year, put about 9,00 miles on it, and, well I LOVE IT! I have only a few problems; one of which being the shift gates... I have touble popping it into gear sometimes and I thought nothing of it (seeing as though I never owned a standard(5spd)) but the problem is I grind like twice a month. As I've read I haven't seen much on this issue but I was wondering if it may just be me and I should deal with it, or change habbits... OR maybe the Short throw shifter changes this...

INPUT HERE-------------\/

it makes driving ability fun but without an aftermarket clutch and flywheel, its pretty much useless. I find that my shifting is so much faster that my clutch can't keep up so whats the point lol. Its fun though, like i said.

I can't believe some people say it doesn't help. I moved from a 93 Accord manual to 2000 Max SE. The first thing I wanted to do was get a short shifter because the throw was ridiculously long. I purchase a Pacesetter for $80 shipped and installed it myself.

It was so worth it. Clutch doesn't really have much to do with it. If you're a good driver it will be fine. ANY clutch setup you have to adjust. This setup, you will adjust, trust me. I'm so glad I put it in. BTW, at the Nissan dealer, the service technician who drove my car loved the short shifter.

i couldn't tell you the last time i grinded a gear, i remember grinding it once. and this is my first 5 speed, the only thing i did was get a diff shift **** because i hated the stock one. it made shifting easier but maybe you should just learn how to drive it better cause i dont have any problems with mine.

i dont grind unless i decide to go straight from 2nd to 5th, then it grinds, but i dont do that much, and its only if i shift fast, and theres no reason to do that anyway, so ive never had a problem with or without my sts, maybe its a brand or a setting thing, i have a pacesetter set to the middle setting.

Look, I know I suggested that I didn't know how to drive and that's why I grind, but when i wind it out I can be perfect, I've driven my dad's 97 M3 and my brothers 2.2 CL 5spd's and besides the m3 being perfect nothing was ever this bad, i have driven a truck or two and thats what shifting in this car reminds me of, SLOPPY GATES, i am so looking forward to put the short shift in and be gone with this problem, but if you're not grinding, either you're Maario Andretti, or you push the clutch ALL THE WAY DOWN either way not very perceptive

There is one drawback to installing a short shifter in the Max. While in neutral, the shifter does not go side to side loosely...it will stay to the right if pushed that far. Small issue. I still have no regret.

I have the B&M and I dont have this problem. I dont grind at all, but I guess driving normally eliminates or prevents grinding. I have ground once or twice, but that was due to my poor timing(feet/hand cordination) and being in a rush at the time.

I dont drive like a maniac where I am chirping through the gears

I have the short throw shifter from Custom Maxima. got it cause it was cheaper than the B&M. I didnt grind before I installed it and dont grind now either. There is the problem like Komax said, the shifter sticks to the right when put in neutral and pushed to the right. When put in neutral and pushed left it will pop back to the middle though.

I like it alot better just cause it isnt sticking up so high, and i can find the gears quicker.
