Upgrades Question

I recently test drove a 2k1 and a 2k2 Maxima both autos and both stock at a dealership today, and know that the 2002-03 have about a 30+ hp and torque increase over the 2000-01 Maxima's. I was amazed that only 30 hp and torque allowed me to squeel the tires from a dead stop. I was wondering how much money you think it would cost to be able to do that? The reason I want the 2001 is because it is about 3k less $ and about 9k less miles and every option available. But I am hesitant becasue I really REALLY like the power that the 2002+ puts out. So if someone could give me a general cost of what they think it would take to be able to get the hp and torque that a 02 offers.

Thanks, Derek

prolly cost about 1-2 k depending on what you do, headers-tip 10-18hp($500-1000), cold air intake round($150) 5-10 hp or cone filter intake (my personal favorite) Super Charger 2-3k but you get 50 to 80 hp (i'm not sure on any of this, guess-'timates) no warranty, and after all said and done, and a less reliable engine. My suggestion,

GET A 2k/2k1 5 SPEED AND CHIRP TIRES IN 2 GEAR TOO

my '96 could chirp from a dead stop by the way, so if it's the creature comforts, go for the 2k2, if it's the price and the "chirping" just mod and be happy w/ the 2k1!!

good luck

If youre looking to chirp your tires, and that is an accomplishment to you, go buy a bottle of Olive oil, pour it over your tires , and have a blast. I used to own a ws6 and a 12 second Mustang, so I dont find squealing tires an accomplishment.....

So I understand your question correctly, you are debating between the 2k/2k1 and the 2k2/2k3 for the simple reason of "chirping" the tires? Thats a great way to increase your expense with having to buy new tires.

ah, chirping. yeah for the max it's easy to chirp second. but, IMHO, get the 2k2 (stick).
