How does it sound when you rev and let off the gas? Does it have that buzzing sound? Is it noticable?

I live in TN and there is a place called The Performace Garage and the hooked me up. Took the guy all of 45min to do it. It took longer because it did not fit correctly so with time against us we made it fit. The part that did not fit was the little rubber piece that it hangs on. With a little sawing and drilling we took care of that or should I say he did.

Cost I don't know yet because their computers were down so I shold have the bill tomorrow.

But I thought the funny thing was it took me 45min to loosen one bolt when I tried to do it my self.HE HE HE

I am so happy

It sounds sweet when you rev it up, deeprer than before.
I did not get the buzz like some said but in reverse I get a little vibration.

congrets...you must be one happy max owner right now i guess.
45 minutes on a bolt ain't no thing...when i was installing my Y-pipe with couple of friends, it took us almost 13 hours of greuling labor underneath my car!! ( hence, we had no swivel joints.. ) but the y-pipe was definitely worth the money...

as far as the buzzing sound goes, my rotors and break pads are louder than my y-pipe..

If the Y pipe isn't that loud and when the main cat is hot enough you can pass emmision, what makes it "illegal"

The fact that you have to warm it up for it to pass.

The removal of your pre-cat(s).

That's why you Dremel it off.

Most likely they won't know it/they is/are gone. Many 4th gens pass emissions without a problem.

So you have none of that "bees in a can" sounc?

I order the cattman pipe yesterday becaue I didn't want any of that bee sound. It costs $100 more, but I think it is worth it.

I can't wait to put it on! since i got a 5speed, the differrence should be more noticeable!

What do you mean by swivel joints? What do they look like? Can you post a pic of what you are talking about? I am considering a y-pipe, but will need the tools in advance.

Swivel sockets... you need them to take off the nuts in a very tight area.

No bees in a can sound coming from my y pipe.

Just DO NOT even ATTEMPT to do the Y-pipe install without these in my opinion.

I installed my Cattmans' y-pipe about one month ago. I did notice a lil tinging sound but it is almost not noticeable. I have a 2001 Maxima so it is a Cali spec. The power difference however also doesn't feel that tremendous. I will be going to the track hopefully tomorrow night or latest by Saturday. I don't have that many mods yet just a K&N filter, Cattmans' y-pipe and custom 2.5 in B-pipe. I will post my times when I get back.
Oh one more thing guys when I installed my y-pipe I did run into one problem after the install the exhaust was hitting undernreath the car. After some investigation I found that the flex in the y-pipe allowed the exhaust to move excessively therefore I had to remove the crossmembers underneath the car and also had the B-pipe made to eliminate the resonator which was also hitting. Just thought you guys might wanted to know.

That's an interesting observation, BottleFedMax. And you're not the first one to make it.
