DIY paint job???
I have been thinking about painting my 2k max myself, I have the air compressor and tools to do it, but have never done it. I have a large garage where I could spray it and let it dry, what do people thing? stupid idea?
I dont feel like dumping $2k on paint job......

wow. be careful. You have to blend the paint along with the rest of the car. Even professionsals have a tough time doing it right. You'll have to get an aspirator face mask, and make sure your garage doesnt have too much dust, sand it, blend it, make sure u can match to color, prime it, paint it, then clear coat it. Not an easy job. There is a reason it cost so much money.

IMHO Have a professional paint it. Most likely you won't be satisfied with the quality and will end up spending $3k - $500 in materials to paint your car yourself and $2.5K to have a pro fix what you did wrong and repaint.
That's my 2 cents..

ok, yea good points, I was just wanting to experiment since I dont drive the car much and have the time to do it, I figured worse could happen is I screw up the paint job and have to go get a pro do it right.....
the pain does not stop when you finish painting. after you will have "orange peel" then you will have to wet sanded, buff it and this is after you got the paint right. HOLY ****!!
think about it brother

i painted a 1/60 model of an f-14 tomcat and it still didn't look good. The bigger the surface area, the harder it is to paint. It might end up like those civic bumper kits that look like it has moldy paint.
