Changed o2 sensor but still got the light
So I changed the rear bank o2 sensor(the last one=the white wire one), went to autozone got em to reset the ses light. IT went away but came back one today. So I guess this means it really wasnt the o2 sensor and was probably that TSB about getting the ECU reflashed? I believe the code originally pulled was P0420.

I also have that code, i changed same o2 sensor with white wire. the light went away for 1000 miles then came back with same code. I had many problems with this light , the nissan dealer never really fixed the problem even after 3 tries. I have learned to ignore the problem, sometimes i think maybe its the catylitic converter, but i pass emission test just fine.

Ya I mean I never notice anything different. Gas milage is the same, no rough idling no nothing. Its just annoying having that SES light on...and practically, if its always on for that damn p0420 nonsense then if something else goes wrong which would trigger the SES light, like another code, you would never really know...know what i mean.

i had the light i think after the car hit 5000 miles, its 71000 now, and i still cant get rid of this light. It was so annoying at first and no one can do anything about it. Nissan just resets the light which explains why it came back. They actually never worked on the car is what is most frustrating. Iam planning on getting an obdII scanner so i dont have to go to autozone or mechanincs all the time. This way i can check if there is a serious problem.

You should probably read up on the P0420. Most of the O2 sensor light "stories" are for the P0140 and P0139.
Please read HERE. I dont see any reference to replace an O2. I only see an ECU reprogram, which is part of the 8/80 warranty. Go to the dealer and have them reprogram it. DONT erase the CEL code.
To make sure they did what they are SUPPOSED to do, read the TSB. Have them (ask for it in advance) bring you a copy of both the PRE and POST ECU program model number. There will be a date and time stamp on it, roughly less then one hour apart, as well as a model number change. Read the chart on the TSB to determine what model number your ECU should change too.
Good Luck!
