Hello everyone, my first post.

Well, I stumbled across the org while researching the purchase of my 02SE. It seems like you've got a great site here.

I just traded my 5 speed 95 Maxima SE in black with black leather for a 2K2SE in majestic blue with 6 speed. I'm a salesman at the dealership where I bought the car so I was able to inspect the car very well and make a great deal for the car and my trade.

I kept my 95 stock but after seeing the mods on this site I can't wait to start working on mine.

I look forward to posting some pics and questions soon.

Welcome to the Org, sounds like you've got a sharp-looking car. This is a great site to get inspiration from, there are many ways you can take your Max, and there are lots of people that have or are doing mods. Happy modding!

Welcome to the org. I did the sales gig for a awhile at a Nissan dealership. Is your dealership Nissan as well?

Hi I am new too. I just got a 2000 Maxima GLE in charcoal with the light grey leather. I am really a dodge neon guy at heart but I was getting sick of shifting with my new commute to work. I picked the Maxima because it is a car that is so nice I would not want to mod it. It is fairly quick for a big car, handles ok for a big car, and has all the gizmos. Modding a dodge Neon makes sense, not too sure about the Max, seems too nice.

Try starting off with an Injen intake. Easy mod on my '03. I did it in my driveway in about an hour (probably would've been quicker if I read the directions). The only trouble was getting the filter in. I had to take the batter and bracket out to get the thing in. Added enough pwr to be noticable and the sound when you hit is will turn heads. Still quiet, though during normal driving, so you don't sound like a civic with a 4" exhaust that wants to roll over and die whenever the kid driving it gives it gas.
Sidenote question: my dealer got a little pissed when he saw that I had a K&N filter (before the new intake). Said that I'd clog up the mass air flow sensor. Was he full of it or has anyone had this problem?

No, not a Nissan dealership. I work at an Acura dealership in Jacksonville, FL selling new and used cars. I actually planned on driving the 95 for a few more years. It had almost 200,000 miles and never let me down. When the 2K2 rolled in on trade I tried to resist but was too weak. I figured the wife would understand since I just got her a 2K GLE a few months earlier. I guess we really are a Maxima family.

A lot of MAFs are weak and will blow whether or not you have a drop-in filter, stock filter, or intake. Of course, the risk is increased if you have an aftermarket. As for panel K&Ns, I had one for 30k miles and had no problems with it... no MAF issues, nothing. The thing to look out for is when you clean and re-oil it... many times, over-oiling will mess up the MAF, as many people on the org will attest.

As for the dealership giving you crap about it... let's put it this way.... the techs at the dealship I went to either stole mine or threw it out, despite me having told them not to touch it and having the "NON-DISPOSABLE FILTER" sticker on it (of course I only found out months later), so it was either really really bad (in which case, maybe if someone had TOLD me they were gonna replace it, or indicate it on the invoice... ), or someone simply just wanted it for their car..... I think its pretty obvious....

If anything, IMO, the K&N is better than the paper filter.... it'll last longer, and it breathes better... there was a thread recently discussing this, you should look it up...

As others have said, "Welcome!" I'm sure you'll enjoy your 2k2 6spd, I know I enjoy mine!! Take it easy at first, get a feel for it because that speedometer needle climbs faster than most realize until they see the red/blue's behind them

Anyways, hope you enjoy your time here on the org, it's very informative, very productive and at times very funny

Ya, the day I took mine off the lot, I was driving next to a Z06 on I-70 near B-more when I looked at the speedo and saw we were doing 100. Sure beat the heck out of the Cutlass Supreme I traded earlier that day!
