Anybody perform the mirror TSB themselves?

I attempted it last night and have sucessfully dug myself in deep, ie mirror is apart and I'm driving without it. LOL! I now know why the 5th gens mirrors are so prone to vibration at hwy speeds. Pretty crappy design that uses FRICTION to keep the center white half-moon that the mirror actuator white plate pivots around locked in place. Once you push your mirror to extremes, it starts walking and eventually wears enough that play allows it to wiggle easily. I removed it and stupidly greased the shaft it is held too and now it about falls off on the ground if you move the mirror to the extremes.

I know how to fix it, but it would be permanent, ie screw/epoxy and I'd probably rather have the dealer just replace it once they unsuccessfully follow the TSBs WRONG advice on how to fix this issue, ie tightening screws, if fails, replace whole mirror. However, then it will just happen again, so I might as well just permanently fix it, I guess.

Just thought maybe I'm missing something here and someone else had a solution.

Here you got my hopes up that you had a solution and that's what you posted.

I guess I'm on my own.
