LED Trouble

Is anyone else having trouble with their LEDs from superlumination.com?

Since installing them (pretty much everywhere) a couple of months ago, I have had probably 5 of them fail. I was under the impression that LEDs were supposed to last longer than bulbs with a fillament.

I love the superwhite color and the price, but these things seem like $hit.

Anyone else have any experience?

I haven't had problems with my LED dome light (although it isn't as bright as I'd like) The rest of my bulbs, I wasn't very impressed with and they got stolen so I don't have too many complaints. Did you read the instructions prior to install. Apparently one LED will affect the others.

I had some 194 based LED "bulbs" that kept burning out in my city lights.

I eventually just gave up and replaced them with a set of those "stealth" silver-painted bulbs.

LED's

I bought my LED's from superbrightleds.com and have had no problems with them. I have changed a lot of stock bulbs to LED's and they all look great. Customer service is great also.

Take a look at these pics:

they were probably running with a resistor rated too low (to make them look bright)... that'd drive the LEDs at higher current and eventually blow them out.

LEDs are usually reliable at the nominal power draw they expect, but if you overdrive them or even drive them to their upper limits they probably won't last as long.

Yeah, the front, left sidemarker seems to be the one giving me the most trouble.

Also, I am missing my front, right sidemarker (so i dont have any bulb in there). Anyone think I should put an old, burnt out bulb in there for now? Maybe the missing bulb is causing the other side to get more current.?

yep, i have had one bulb burn out on me just last week. but i think it is due to a leak that i have in that side marker. hopefully anyway... because i would be upset if it had burned out already.
