GXE dash kit???

I hear people all the time talking about the GXE dash kit. What is the purpose of this? I assume it is when you want to replace the bose with a standard single din cd player. Is this the case? I have a 2000 se with the bose cd and manual ac controls. I was told however that you cant change and the bose cd player without gutting the whole bose system out of the car. Is this true. I know this is probably the wrong section to post this, sorry.

the GXE trim kit is primarily for aesthetic purposes and can be used for single/double din installs. i would say all of the aftermarket kits do not match the dash color or the subtle trims of the max but you will still be able to install a single din. the scosche kit is the only one that allows for single/double din installation. can't say about if you absolutely need to remove the entire Bose system to install aftermarket, i got my SE without Bose. hope this helps a little and good luck.

No need to bypass amps either. I was running an aftermarket HU with my stock Bose speakers. It worked but sounded like crap. All you need to do is get an adapter to convert from the RCA outputs of the HU to the harness. Check the Audio forum for more help.
