The salt won't damage the paint as long as it is painted properly with several clear coats.

I had mine painted by my buddy and he put a few coats of clear for me. Well, I already scratched it from a parking lot front stopper. Have to get use to the extra front piece for measurement when parking

i know right.... a local shop around me... did a bad paint job.. and right after winter... my whole front (which was painted) had little paint chips everywhere because of their bad job... and they blamed it on me for drivin' in the snow too much with the salts on the road.... it really P*S*ED me off!

My opinion is to get it done now. Get it painted, make sure the guy puts extra clear coat to protect the paint from chipping. The reason why paint chips in the first place is bad preparation of the item to be painted. I had to wet sand the lip before it was primed and after it was primed, I wet sand it again and primed again. After the primer was dry and ready, it was painted by my best friend coat after coat. Made sure there was no orange peel on the paint and than clear coated the lip like 5 times. Oh yeah, he used something called flex agent with the paint so that it would not crack because it is urethane.

It was a long and lengthy process and I know why people charge so much to paint these things. But I can tell you even after all of this, I hit things a few times and the lip took it good. The only time I scratched it was when I hit cement and scraped it hard. My friend is going to just spray some paint over the scratches after I bang it up a few times as a touch up.

One other thing, you only have to put 1 or 2 screws or small bolts on the MT lip. Mine is really snugged onto the body with only 2 screws. I'm going to change it to 1 small bolt and nut so that I can take it off and on when I feel like it. That might be your answer to the snow thing. Take it off when it snows and put it back on when its nice weather.

Let me ask my best friend if he can paint your lip for you guys who live around Long Island, Queens, etc. His shop is in Nassau County.

Hey guys. I don't have the address off hand in front of me but the shop is located in Island Park and is towards the Fire House.

I'll give you the address when I get home if you want. He's a really honest mechanic and has a great reputation from customers who come back. I've been friends with him since high school. The only problem is that he is always busy but if you need something done on your car, he'll schedule you in like most shops.

I think you might as well get it on, so you start getting enjoyment out of it. It does not good sitting in your room collecting dust. It will get chipped and messed up over time anyways, so not gonna be a huge benefit to wait. Especially since you garage it and take care of your car.
