Service Engine Soon light
2000 w. 71k miles
its been on for about 2 days now. steady on, no blinking, etc.
i looked in the book and it says that i should make sure the gas cap is on secure, or that it could have been caused by low gas in the tank (i do sometimes let it go down until the Fuel light blinks), and once the cap is back on or i put gas in the tank, it should go away "after a few driving trips"? anyone else have this happen? would it blink, or do something else, if it was throwing a code?

Next step is to take your car to Auto Zone, request they pull the codes so you can then troubleshoot further. Do not just simply reset the SES prior to trying to isolate what is causing the light to come on.

Yeah, try to get the codes...you can take it from there. My SES light came on right around 69k or so. Didn't affect anything for the first few months...got the codes P0171/P0174...Bank lean etc... Then I started having poor acceleration which got worse, then cold start stalls and rough idling. Just had it fixed the other day at the dealer, they replaced the MAF sensor and it was covered under my extended warranty, with a $100 deductible. MUCH better now.
