I cant get my rotors off.

I have new rotors to put on...so far I have the calapers removed and the break pad housing removed on both front tires.

THey are rusted on something fierce or something. I have hit them a few times with lock ease (used for loosing rusted on bolts and stuff) but nothing yet...HELP!

keep hitting them on opposite sides of the rotor, or there are two small holes apart from the bolt pattern that with the right bolt you can drive them in one by one and basicly pry it off.

I have sat down on my butt facing the rotor and used my feet to push from side to side. You can be forcefull. They are used to it. If all else fails use a rubber mallet.

There are two screw holes on the rotors next to the studs... if you can find some screws at home depot, screw them in and they come out slowly.. thats why they are there

put a jack in between the rotor and stable object (ie frame or fixed member) and let physics do the trick.

well, I will let it soke over night in wd40 and my liquid wrench.

Been pounding on one with a rubber mallet...nothing has been moving. so I can wait.

anyone know what size of a screw to get for that hole if it comes to that. I dont want to be taking 30 trips back and forth to the store.

you have new rotors to put on anyways right ? When I do rotors on a car, I don't use no rubber mallet, I get a big azz steel hammer that I use to separate ball joints with etc. I wack it HARD in the middle a few times to let loose of the rust, then I wack it on the braking surface of the rotor a few times hard- I've broke plenty of rotors before. I never had an issue. That is the way I do them at work.

Did you remove the lock rings from the wheel studs?

Maximas don't have anything holding the rotors to the hub or studs, they are full floating rotors. Only thing holding them down to the hub is the wheel when its tightened down. I live fairly close by you (Schaumburg) if you don't get them off in the next hour halla at me. Do you have a BFH ? (big #$%^* hammer)

If the car is on jack stands, is it ever possible to hit it so hard with a hammer that it knocks the car loose, off the stand?

Did you decide to take off the caliper bracket?

Ok...I got them off, and the new ones on. drove about a mile and wll went to hell.

passanger side is having major probs. It seems like the calaper is frozen, but when I took them apart I was easly able to squish/condence it.

so I can back home and it was just radiating heat so I know that isnt right. Ugh.

Im getting pretty pissed.

Guys, it is normally easy to get these things off. remove wheel, remove calaper, and remove pad holder. then the rotors are just sitting there.

I sent you a PM BlackBIRDVQ

what a crappy day

You're dead a$$ wrong. My rotors, both front and rear, had locking rings/washers to hold them on from the factory. Don't know if there's any kind of difference between models or not, but mine are on there...

Bastards!!! 10 minutes left? I would have started to kick down the door at that time. oh well, wait till tomorrow morning when they open. When I used to work on my old commuter cars, Dad's old saying was 'work on the cars early in the morning in case you need anything from the parts stores, they will be open.'

Good Luck!
