The other night as I was driving home, I noticed a Honda S2000 closing in at a very rapid pace. As he pulled along side me I noticed that it was one of my friends. He however didn't look over. There was a lil bit of traffic. I said what the heck let me see what my Maxima can do against a S2000. I switched lanes to be right behind him and as traffic cleared we both cut out into the next lane and floored it after about 3 seconds I actually had to lift the gas to prevent my car from hitting his. Finally when the slow lane opened I had a clear straight away and as I redlined 2nd gear I was right beside him and when I shifted into 3rd gear I passed him and left him in the dust.

Wow...

That friend of your's must be a really crappy driver, because he should have burned you like a match.

i think an s2000 can take a max...i don't think your friend was really in the mode for a real race or something....either that or he really is a crappy *** driver.

he wasn't trying or couldn't drive

dude, the s2k would kill you if that guy knew how to drive. Steve Millen? Stillen? did 0-60 in 4.9sec and the 1/4mi in the low 14's.

but good kill.

Yeah I agree with Mugen, I dont think he was trying to race you.

I think oboiya has the right idea here. Did you look at the originator of this threads' ID??? Hmmmmmmm, BottleFedMax... could he be sprayin'??? He doesn't list mods in his sig???

As far as the comments regarding the driving ability of the S2000 pilot, I think they are ludicrous. Once a car is rolling a driver's ability has VERY LITTLE to do with the cars performance. Every driver is going to rev his car to the max when actually racing someone. About the only thing he can do wrong is miss a gear, which even the best of us have done in our time. The drivers' ability really only comes into the equation when you are sitting at a stop light staring him down!

I think the sc2000 driver knew you were no contest, so he probably figured why risk getting a ticket etc. The Sc2000 guys would only waste his time with porsches, bmw's, and the like...

Well lets just say he was talking alot of crap one day when a bunch of us decided to go to the track. He was ranting about how he was going to run a 14 flat in the 1/4 mile. His first run equated to a 15.7 and his second run was a 15.9 Let me tell ya he was laughed at so bad I sure didn't wanna be in his shoes. Oh well, better him than me!!

This sounds like porsche performance to me:

Sorry guy but a Porsche Turbo does 0-60 in 3.9 sec and blazes the 1/4 mi in 12.4 sec. and tops out at 180 mph.

My point is that the S2000 is in a different class of performance car than the max...we can compare the s2000 to all types of top of the line exotics all day, but my point is that the s is a lot faster than the max.

Here is what happened. You really need to juice those S2000's about 5000 RPM to get some heavy torque. He probably heard his engine racing like a model airplane and didn't have the b@lls to take it much about 6K RPM, thinking that something was going to explode.

Ok ok ok, we've done this b4!!! I've said it once and I'll say it again. No freakin way! He must have been in the wrong gear. If he were racing u would have known it by the EXTEMELY LOUD engine/exhaust noise. I just drove an S2000 today around the block a few times, caught an open, straight street and floored the everlovin s**t out of it. Then I got back into my car and met the harsh reality again. The S2000 will shred the Max anyday, anytime, anywhere! Unless u've driven one, u'll never know. Yes u have to redline it to get it move. The sweet spot is between 7000-9000 rpm's, that's where u feel it. Don't get me wrong I love my Max and I enjoy killing all other cars out there, but Max beating S2000, nah. I don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but I need to do a reality check here.

Know your opponent!
