Tranny breakin

I'm getting a new manual tranny. I know that I have to driver short distances, vary RPMs and don't rev past 3000 for first 1000 miles. Any advise on tranny fluid. I used Red Line in my old tranny and still have some left over. But I think syntetic is not good for break in period. if it's true, when is it safe to put syntetic? Do you think Amsoil is supperior to Red Line is protection qualities?
Thanks
Nik

When I rebuild my 5spd MT at around 64K miles, I beat the crap out of it as soon as I got in the car and back on the road. That is the best way to make sure everything is all good. If the car handles abuse back n forth like that there shouldn't be a problem. There isn't anything inside the tranny that needs to be take EZ for few thousand miles. Why are you getting a new tranny ? whats wrong with the old one.

That's all fine and dandy, but I feel, along with most others here, that you should follow the builder's guideline or instructions when it comes to "breaking in" driveline parts. There are certain things in this world that absolutely require a break in period, but I suppose it's up to the builder/manufacturer in those instances.

what's up Mike
Rememeber I had that winning/clicking noise. It was winnig first. then it stated sounding like a diesel engine at low RPMs in 1st and 2nd gear. It started to get worth. now you hear clicking all the time, even at nuetral. when i compress clutch it qoes away. i took it to a tranny shop. diff bearing need to be changed and 3rd gear syncro as well. that's why i had a leak. it wasn't a seal. i got a good deal on 21st anniversary tranny. plus it has a limited slip.
Should i put normal GL4 to break it in and then switch to syntetic?
Hey Mike, did you start new job yet?
