should i buy a maxima?

I have the opportunity to buy one of two maximas, an 02 and an 03. Both are black, 6 speeds, loaded SE's (minus the nav). I live in Ontario so the prices are in Canadian bucks. The 02 is $18,000, with 56,000 kilometers. The 03 is $20,000, with 50,000 kilometers. These are both company cars that are being turned in. I am asking you Maxima owners out there wether or not you think these are worth the money?

Yeah, definately... very much so. Those are actually both really good deals for Canadian market from my experience.

For a 6spd I'd go with the '03, the '02 6spds have some minor kinks that may or may not have been worked out. I say give them both a test drive, and see which one you like better - both are great deals imo.

This is a no brainer. Get a max, no matter which one, cuz both are good deals.

I would absolutely get the 03. The 02 would be just as good if no choice. Sounds like a good deal, I wouldn't think they were driven too hard (but can handle it anyway). I would hope most of those miles are highway. Try to see if extending the warranty is possible/economical.

Company cars w/ 6-speeds?? Pretty sweet! Were the former owners able to order their cars how they wanted or something?

WHAT, Buy a Maxima? are you crazy or lost your mind? Why would you want to buy something stupid like that for.

J/K This is kind of a PRO Maxima group of people your asking and all the answers should be common sense.

All serious though, you won't regret it no matter which one you chose. Try investing in Carfax report for the two vehicles and see if there was any damage reported. That should help in your decision.

Thanks for the feedback folks, I figured that most of you would say go for it but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway. Most of the mileage is highway as they were salesrep cars. The warranties apply bumper to bumper to 60,000 and the powertrain to 100,000 so if I get it I'll put it under a microscope while the 60k still applies. Pretty cool company that lets you order the car you want with very little restrictions. My mom's company, Medtronic is the worlds largest manufacturer of pacemakers, so I could see the salesreps getting their own adreniline going with a 6 speed.

Thanks all!

Hater. One of the many in denial. Most everyone I heard complaining about the 6th gen, now want to/ or have trade in their 5th for one. I remember a lot disliking the 5th when they first came out. Don't get me wrong, I love the 5th, 03 TE especially (friend has one), but my 04 has so many more features and stands out a lot more. If I had the extra $$, I'd have my 04 and either a 4th or 5th manny. Oh and I love my heated seats/wheel. But my frind has them on his TE too, his is auto though?

My 02 6 speed SE came with heated seats and steering wheel, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't have an 03 with the same.... but hey, maybe its possible they didn't....

The 04 has a totally different look, It's up to the person I guess. The extra weight is what kills it in my opinion, but if your not into 49% luxury/49% sports car, 2% secret sauces thing then still all good too =D.

I've got heated seats/wheel on my '02. I REALLY doubt the '03 6-speed wouldn't have it.

I don't think you're really helping the decision here.... there's a reason why he's in this forum and not a BMW 325 forum...

Ya they got the cash, the size of the office is nice up here, it would probably fit in the lunch room in Minneapolis.

Hell yeah buy it! I traded my modded GTP in on mine and have NEVER regretted it for even one second. What a fun car.

And I gotta jump on the 04 haters band-wagon......yuck. I wouldn't trade mine in on one if I could drive the 04 for free. Same with the 04 GTP's.....I have no idea what the Nissan & Pontiac designers were thinking.

why dont you post "should I buy a yugo?" on the yugoracing.com website? maybe they will tell you to buy a maxima.

The maxima is a great car, fun, fast, plenty of mods available, plus you are looking at some good deals. But I dont know you, your situation, etc. How would I know, what is good for you.

Yeah, buy a used BMW, then pay out the wazoo to maintain it. On the other hand, the Max you would spend out the wazoo modding, cuz you will love it so much that you will want to pamper it. I would get the 03.

I looked at a Grand Prix a couple of months ago and I didn't get the feeling that the man in the commercial did. Was kinda unimpressed actually. I still get giddy driving mine... I though, would love a 6th gen Max... but I will wait til next December.
