With my devotion to u guys on the ORG i report.......:

I just came back from the NY auto show @ the Javits center. I saw the new Altima: 240hp 3.5 engine, gated shifter, 4-wheel independent suspension, weird headlights and dual exhaust, not true dual from front to back though. The Sentra SE-R was beautiful, but u couldn't get into it since it was fenced in. My beloved AE was there in the Majestic Blue that I had originally wanted w/ frost leather and a 5spd. I spoke to two different people at the booth and got two different opinions about where the Max was going, one of them even denied the possibility of the 260hp 3.5, to which I shook my head in utter disbelief. Honestly I wasn't all that impressed with the Altima, which they said was a bit longer than the Max by the way.

Naturally my next stop was to see the I30, oops I mean the new I35 which had the 260hp 3.5 engine. While there I spoke to their rep and got an earful of info and upcoming possibilities and they agreed that the Max should see the same upgrade. I was still upset not being able to pry more info about the Max (260-280hp 6spd, SE-R, etc.) For those who are interested the Q45 did not seem to prove to me that it was worth $54k to $62k, especially being that my mom has a 740iL with a far superior fit and finish. The G20 is going to be phased out for a new more substantial car within the next couple of years.

I did take a few pics but alas I unfortunately will not be able to post them for up to a week. I shall post them as soon as I can!

Thanks HaulinMax, keep us eager Max enthusiasts posted with the pics. I'm planning on going to the show on Tuesday. Hopefully I can pry some info out of the Nissan reps.

Go get 'em put a flashlight over their heads and a flame uunder their @$$es, that'll make them talk. If not, rip off their arms and beat them senseless w/ them.

Phew, sorry I tend to get emotional about these kinda things.

Shot of the @$$, sorry about the blur, the Altimas were are all on spinnin platforms, I looked like an idiot running around them. U can sorta make out the 3.5 tag.

BTW the Altima will also be available with a 180hp? 2.5L I4 (single exhaust)

Here's a bottom shot (blurry again, it was movin). Check out the exhaust, not true dual, comes out dual, dual flex pipes to one cat and back out to dual on a Y way after the resonator into two mufflers with (single) tips that look very much like the ones used on current Altima. This pic is sideways to preserve size.
Close ups coming......

The Maxima will have the 3.5L 260HP engine in 2002. It will also have a close ratio 6 spd. This is all confirmed, I read it in USA today. Check out my thread in 4th Gen
"260HP for 2002 Max-Confirmed!!"

HaulinMax@$$, you da man. Great pics. The Altima looks much better in your shots (although blurry). We want more. Maybe we can send you to Nissan NA for shots of the 2002 Max.

Good point it was the first thing I noticed when the car spun around showed its grille. I hate it, too big. I wonder if they'll actually use it on the production model.

Thanx for the props guys!!

What do u guys think of the Sentra?

The V Spec is really cool. Still too small for me though. It also has the Multi Link Beam. That car would be killer with a fully independent rear end.
