Removing radio bracket screws - How dio you guys do it?

I'm tried replacing my radio today and had no luck removing those practically welded in radio bracket screws. I'm interested in how others have removed these without breaking screws and screwdrivers.

Thanks for the advice

you need an impact driver of some sort...atleast its the easiest way. my friend got one out with a drill, but i had to use and impact driver for the rest.

I used a high powered drill on some, a 12" long screwdriver and a 2" screwdriver. It was a two person job (one to hold and one to unscrew). They are very hard to take off. Good luck.

Yeah the screws have threadlock on them. My father and I drilled them out of my headunit. The dealership will sale you another set of brackets for $20 each.

take a ice pick or something with a tip that will fit the center of the screw's head. Use a hammer to hit the ice pick as if you were nailing the ice pick into the center of the screw's head. Now the screw should unscrew without too much effort using a screwdriver and pressing down on it so you don't strip the screw. If the screw doesn't move, repeat the "nailing" but harder. It's really easy...just don't strip those screws if you plan on re-using them.

i used a large screw driver and steady torque. you can spray it with wd-40. that may help loosen it a little

mines didn't. try to use a screw driver that has the same size head on it as the screw so you won't strip it. with some elbow grease it should come out. if you got something like a ratchet wrench with a screw diver bit would be the best bet.

Another way I've tried is to use a screwdriver and a vice-grip wrench. Attach the wrench to the screwdriver to make it easy to turn and put all your weight on the end of the screwdriver so it doesn't slip, and then turn like a ratchet.
