When I had purchased my maxima in september 2001, I remember the dealer saying something about setting an option that when you increase your horsepower that you radio would be automatically raised. Has anyone ever set this up?

Do you mean when speed, instead of horsepower, is increased? My 02 has that option and it was annoying as hell. I'd be driving along at 60 and the volume would be low then all of a sudden the volume would get really loud. I don't have that problem any more though b/c I got rid of the stock bose system a couple months ago.

Yes, it's speed sensitive, but not nearly as good as the systems in BMW's for example. However, you can adjust the sensitivity or even turn it off.

The feature is available on the non-bose setup as well.

I have a non-Bose and it doesn't work on mine. I see the words on the display, but I haven't noticed and increase/decrease in volume. Does it have to be set up somehow?

Yeah, I think it only works with the Bose system.
