Smoked Tail Lights

I was wondering how you would be able to smoke 03 tail lights. I got the chrome tail lights from customaxima and was wondering what i would use to smoke them out. Post any pics you have of smoked tails or websites to order paint, how to's, anything. Thanks

How about do what I and many other 5.5 gen guys did. Swap them out w/ the 5th gen SE tails...

BUT... the general concensus seems to be that the darker tails look better on darker maxes. The stock tails look great on your car. Maybe just paint the orange turn signal lens red?

Talk to Irish44J... he has smoked corners and I'm sure the process is similar...

And yeah, like what Aliti said, switch em out... I'm in the process of swapping tails with someone myself... or you can just buy em off eBay for around 50 bucks....

There are a few guys with smoked tails, but I can't remember who. I have the smoked corners like irish. I used Night Shades. IIRC the guys with the tails used the Night Shades tinting paint also...a couple light coats and then clear coat.

when you mean smoke, are you referring to the glass still being clear and the inside blacked out (liek anniversary edition 2k1 headlights) or more like SE tail lights?

I smoked my tails too. The whole lense on the outside. I think it looks badass with Grey Lustre. I used Night Shades....still have plenty left over if you wanted to buy the rest.

bad pics...but you get the idea.

Buy the rest? You can just go to local hobby store and pick up a can for $3 or less

and that seller is stupid
"Extremely rare...." not really since its easy to do

'100% legal because when you flash your turn signals it will give you bright amber light"

according to the law, tail lights must REFLECT red

Hamy, how many coats did you use? I was already going to do this, but wasn't sure how many coats would make it look perfect. That looks very tight, I must say.

hey hamy.. how much would it cost if i would have you do my tails for me? :-)

I like it, but i'm afraid i'll mess something up if i paint it... rather have someone with experiance...

I live in Carlisle.... never saw ur maxima around the Harrisburg area....

I'm gettin' a 5th gen soon... hopefully...

I bought the black clear lens tails, I painted the top lens red with Testors candy apple red and smoked out the outside with 3 coats of Testors black tint, I think they look really nice.

Sorry... I have no idea what that is... but what else would a computer camera be used for? Its okay... I was just thinking that along with your description it'd be useful for everyone else to see pics of your tails....

yes that would definately be useful. that logitech cam won't sho quality very well, and unless you're gonna drive your car into the room where your computer is, i don't think the wire is long enough, unless you have a wireless, which i haven't seen before.
