Chances of Auto Tranny going bad???
Chances of Auto Tranny going bad???
Hey all,
My Max has roughly 48, 600 miles on it and my dad was thinking about buying an extended aftermarket warranty before 50k (because it's less $$). I originally told him that I didn't think he'd have any reason to do it, but I've seen so many stories on here about auto transmissions going bad, and it almost seems like a certainty. So do you think we should get the warranty or wait to see if the tranny goes bad???
Thanks,
Brian

I don't know but I got an extended warranty through my credit union, 100k from the day I bought it, so that's 100k + whatever miles it had. . .= 139k woo hoo. Lets me sleep good at night.

Well thats cause Qmax03 is in nyc as am I. It is all go and stop, go and stop on every block. My 2k is now just starting to skip. I had it for 6k in the city and its already messing up. On the highway, its good until you hit traffic.
I have 105,000 miles on my auto tranny '01 SE and have no problems. I've never done a transmission flush, but I go the route of several drain and refills every 30K miles or so instead.
I drive mostly highway miles with some city miles during weekends.
No problems.
Peace.
